FINAL EXAMINATION

COURSE TITLE: SOFTWARE PROJECT MANAGEMENT

For this course, students are required to have two projects in mind. First, an individual
independent project of their choice which is derived from a topic the student chooses to work on
and the other project which was chosen as the class project revolving around a Cultural
Information System project (CIS) for Cameroon.

You are hired as a senior software project manager for the Mesassi Development Consortium in
charge of the Cultural information system project from Crisby Ventures;

1. What is the target benefit of the CIS project to the 3 main stakeholders? (10 mks)
2. Using the keywords provided below, come up with a comprehensive project charter for
the CIS project. Include all details that make this project charter professional and
relevant. (purpose, success criteria, requirements, deliverables, risk, baselines etc .)
(15 mks)
3. Discuss 5 knowledge areas of your choosing explaining exactly how you will address
them when managing the CIS project. (10 mks).
4. Differentiate between Organizational Process Assets and Enterprise Environmental
factors giving concreate examples of each with respect to your individual project. (5 mks)
5. Explain how
 Resource availability
 Organizational culture, structure and governance
 Legal restrictions and
 Marketplace conditions can affect your work

Will affect how projects are managed at the Mesassi development consortium (10 mks)

6. As part of the planning Process group and the Project scope management Knowledge
area, the project manager is required to carry out the Collect requirements process.
 State and explain 5 functional requirements of the CIS project (10 mks)
 As part of the User interface requirements, explain the UX honeycomb referencing your
personal software project. (10 mks).
In the year 2020, shortly after you were employed at the mesassi Development consortium, all
employees were asked to present personal software projects they thought had potential to take the
company to a different level if successfully implemented;

a. The LOC decomposition was done for the Cultural information system with an estimate
of 2000 LOC. Compare this estimation with your personal software project and state
which project MDC should undertake if their budget is 1 million fcfa (One, both, none).
Note that your comparisons for LOC are based on the complexity of your personal project
with respect to the CIS. Explain your decision carefully using all project characteristics
and features you know. 10 mks
b. Assuming Mesassi Development consortium has an organizational average productivity
for systems of this type at 400 LOC/pm and a burdened labor rate of 200,000 fcfa per
month:
i. What is the estimated effort (person-months) needed for the CIS?
ii. Given the budget above, what is the approximate cost per line of code? (10 mks)
7. Explain the 4 key quality factors referencing the CIS and your personal project and tell
the MDC which project they should engage in based on your analysis. (Correctness,
maintainability, integrity and Usability) (10 mks)

Bonus

 Explain in detail how you will manage the closing process group of a large complex
project such as the CIS project.
