The only way to disconnect the device from the mains supply is to pull
out the plug.

Inserting the back-up battery

During mains operation, the back-up battery ensures that stored settings are
not lost in the case of a power failure or when the device is briefly discon-
nected from the mains.
1 Open the battery compartment by pressing the area marked with an
arrow on the drawing and lifting up the cover.
2 Before inserting the battery (9 V, 6LF 22) into the cable connection
compartment, note the polarity of the battery.
3 Insert the battery upright.
4 Replace the cover of the battery compartment and click the catch into
place.
Note:
When closing the battery compartment, make sure that you do not
wedge in the FM wire antenna, which should be inserted into its special
recess.
Note:
Remove the back-up battery when it is flat or when you know that the
device will not be used for a long period of time.
Environmental note:
Batteries, including those which contain no heavy metal, may not be
disposed of with household waste. Please dispose of used batteries in
an environmentally sound manner. Find out about the legal regulations

Additional information for units sold in the UK.

Units sold in the UK are suitable for operation from a 240V ac, 50Hz mains
supply.
The range of multi-system receivers is built to work in most European coun-
tries. However, the mains plug and socket system for the UK differs from
many European countries.
This appliance has been supplied with a fitted, non-removable, approved
converter plug for use in the UK. This converter plug is fitted with a 5A rated
fuse.
In case this appliance is supplied with a moulded 2-pin Euro plug only,
which is unsuitable for UK operation, this must be cut off and immediately
disposed of. An approved 13A, 3-pin UK plug should then be fitted by a
qualified electrician.
Note:
The severed Euro plug must be destroyed to avoid a possible shock
hazard should it be inserted into a socket elsewhere.
If a non-rewireable 3-pin plug or a rewireable 13A (BS1363) 3-pin plug is
used, it must be fitted with a 5A ASTA or BSI approved BS1362 fuse. If any
other type of plug is used it must be protected by a 5A fuse either in the
plug, or at the distribution board. If this type of plug becomes defective,
ensure that the fuse is removed before disposal, to eliminate potential shock
hazard.
If it is necessary to change the fuse in the non-rewireable plug, the correct
type and rating (5A ASTA or BSI approved BS1362) must be used and the
fuse cover must be refitted. If the fuse cover is lost or damaged, the lead and
plug must not be used until a replacement is obtained. Replacement fuse
covers should be obtained from your dealer.

The wires in the mains lead are colour coded in accordance with the follo-

Connect the BLUE coloured wire to plug terminal marked with the letter “N”
or coloured black.
Connect the BROWN coloured wire to the plug terminal marked with the
letter “L” or coloured red.
In no circumstance must any of the wires be connected to the terminal mar-
ked with the letter “E”, earth symbol “z”, coloured green, or green & yel-
low.

Setting the clock
When you switch on the device for the first time, the time flashes in the dis-
play to indicate that you must set the clock. The same applies if the device
has been disconnected from the mains and no back-up battery is inserted.
1 Switch the alarm function switch to »●«.
2 Press and hold down »TIME «.
3 Press and hold down »<« to set the clock with the time running slowly
backwards.
and/or
Press and hold down »>>« to set the clock with the time running
quickly forwards.
4 Release »TIME « to conclude the setting.
– Display: the set time.
Note:
Press and hold down »SNOOZE« to display the seconds (time e.g.
»12:15« and 20 seconds. Display: »5:20«).

Setting the alarm times

With this device you can set two alarm times, for example, for two people.
1 Set the »ALARM 1 1+2 2« sliding switch (on the left side of the
device) to »1« or »2«.
2 Press and hold down »ALARM«.
3 Press and hold down »<« to set the alarm time with the time running
slowly backwards.

Radio operation
For the best FM (VHF) reception, it is sufficient to direct the wire antenna
accordingly. Make sure that the wire antenna is not wedged in by the cover
of the battery compartment.

Tuning radio stations

1 Tune in a radio station using »TUNING« (on the right side of the device).

1 Adjust the volume using »VOLUME « (on the right side of the
device).

Alarm mode

Selecting the alarm times

1 Set the »ALARM 1 1+2 2« sliding switch (on the left side of the

sound is played back.
– The device switches on at the set alarm times with the natural sound
selected (alarm duration 59 minutes).

Interrupting the alarm

1 Press »SNOOZE« while the alarm is sounding.
– The alarm (radio, signal tone or natural sound) stops.
– The alarm goes off again at 7-minute intervals (alarm duration 59
minutes).

Cancelling the alarm for the day

1 Press »RADIO/ALARM OFF« (on the top of the device) while the
alarm is sounding.
– The alarm (radio, signal tone or natural sound) stops and the alarm
function retains the set times for the next day.

Cancelling/activating alarm stand-by

1 To cancel the alarm function, set »ALARM ɷ e •
« (on the left
side of the device) to »●« (standby).
– Display: the »ALARM 1 ●« or »ALARM 2 ●« LED disappears
from the display.
– The set alarm times are saved.
2 To activate the alarm function, switch »ALARM ɷ e •«

Timer mode
The device possesses a sleep timer, which switches it off in radio mode at a
preset time. It is possible to set the switch-off time to up to 59 minutes.

Setting the sleep timer

1 Press »SLEEP« to switch on the device.
– Display: the switch-off time » 0 : 5 9 « (59 minutes).
– You will hear the selected radio station.
2 To set the switch-off time, press and hold down »SLEEP«.
– After 1 second, the switch-on time is set with the time running slowly
backwards.
or
Press and hold down »SLEEP« and »<« to set the switch-off time with
the time running slowly backwards.
and/or
Press and hold down »>>« to set the switch-off time with the time
running quickly forwards.
3 Release »SLEEP« to conclude the setting.
– After the selected switch-off time has elapsed, the device switches off
automatically.

Displaying the switch-off time remaining

1 Press »SLEEP« briefly.
– Display: briefly, the switch-off time remaining.

Switching off the sleep timer

1 To switch off the sleep timer before the set time, press »RADIO/
ALARM OFF«.
– The device switches off.
