-Nike, Inc.(stylized as NIKE) is a multinational
footwear, apparel, and equipment company
headquartered in Beaverton, Oregon, in the
United States.

-It was founded on January 25, 1964, as Blue


Ribbon Sports by Bill Bowerman, a track-and-
field coach at the University of Oregon, and his
former student Phil Knight.
GROWTH OF NIKE
Nike Goes Public
In 1980 Nike went public, and Knight became an instant
multimillionaire, reaching the coveted Forbes Richest Four Hundred
Americans with a net worth estimated at just under $300 million.

According to Annual Report on American Industry In the January 4,


1982 Nike was rated number one in profitability over the previous 5
years, ahead of all other firms in all other industries.
RIVAL; COMPETITORS

20 years ago when Nike had some tough competition, and
