What would have happened if Juárez had not existed?

I’m thrilled to share a glimpse into the life of and important person,
about the 26th president of Mexico.

Benito Juárez is a very important character in the history of our country.

But in the history books, they only tell us that he was a peasant who
killed a Frenchman and that he wore a ridiculed hairstyle. That’s true,
but Juarez did a lot of things change when he killed Maximiliano.

Imagine this: If Juarez had not killed Maximiliano, Mexico would have
been a French protectariat. Mexico have not had autonomy in his own
territory. Injustice would have reigned again throughout the republic,
the high positions in the government and the army would have been
reserved for the French elite. The cultural identity of Mexico would
have been transformed into a mixture of the little existing culture with
French culture.

Now, let’s talk about the First World War, why? Archduke Franz
Ferdinand of Austria (whose death started the First World War, formerly
known as the great war), Was Maximilian’s uncle. Therefore, if Mexico
have been a French protectariat, Mexico would have entered to the
armed conflict, because, Porfirio Díaz would never have been
president so the mexican revolution never would been past, and the
mexican army have not been busy.

Mexico would have not had petroleum industry. All the petroleum would
have been extracted by the French government. Therefore, Mexico’s
economy would have been restricted by the French government.

In conclusion, Mexico owes a great debt to Benito Juárez, his hairstyle

and his powerful 1.30 meters of height saved us from becoming a
modern colony without autonomous power over its own territory.
Mexico as a territory would have existed, but it would not have existed
as a nation.
