What is Turo?

With the boost in prices of rental cars combined with shortages, Turo has evolved into
one of the big players in the vehicle renting industry. For reference, here is a visual of
how Turo ranks and is keeping up with the rental car industry.

TOP RENTAL CAR COMPANIES

If you are reading this you may already have an idea of what Turo is, and if not I am
here to help you become familiar. There are some things that you may or may not
know as a beginner with Turo. Turo is a platform that provides on-demand car rental
service through an app. Whether you want to use Turo as a platform to make a side
hustle or turn it into a full time career, these are tools are given to you to do so.
Most people who are interested in being a host on Turo want to use it as another
stream of income. It all depends on what your goals are. I’m creating this as a guide
of tools to equip you with information to becoming a successful and profitable
host.

First things first, you have to have a vehicle. So whether you’re an individual that has
one or multiple vehicles, Turo is for you. If you plan on purchasing a vehicle
specifically for Turo rentals, I would advise that you research the market on cars that
are in demand for rentals. Click the following highlighted link to view top earning cars
on Turo. [https://turo.com/us/en/top-earning-cars]. We would strongly advise not to
purchase a vehicle that you can not afford. When doing research and picking a
vehicle, Turo is not a guaranteed way to make monthly payments and insurance.
Please be responsible if you’re an individual purchasing a vehicle for the sole
purpose of renting it out on Turo.
Listing Your Vehicle
Photos of your vehicle play an optimal role. You can write the best description of your
vehicle but the first thing guests will see and most likely care about is what the vehicle
looks like.

It may be necessary to get professional pictures taken of your vehicle for the listing.
For an affordable price, you can find a local photographer to take pictures of the
vehicle.
Ultimately you should look at this as an investment for your business.

Nicer pictures are more likely to get booked. Here's a side by side of what a good
picture is and what a not so good picture looks like on Turo.
Pay attention to the lighting and angles.
Listing Your Vehicle
If you are not willing to hire a photographer, most people use their phones to take
these pictures themselves. I recommend making sure the pictures are edited. Be sure
to highlight any special features of your vehicle as doing this can increase your
chances in getting booked. For example if your car has a backup camera you may
want to include that in the photos. Although this will already be listed in the description,
people like to see images. We recommend at least 15-20 photos to get your journey
started. Remember your are marketing your vehicle.

There are a few things you can do to make your listing stand out and maximize
your booking potential. To determine the price you want to set your vehicle for, I would
recommend researching the same make and model that you will be listing. Also the
year can affect how you may want to price your vehicle.

Turo will help you with this by recommending a daily price, but it is still up to you to
determine the market. For example, I have a 2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. If I see that
there are three other cars of the same make and model, respectively priced at 89, 99,
and 105 per day, but the one priced at 89 is a 2018, I can list my vehicle on the higher
end of the three or in between the price of 99 and 105. Another nice feature that Turo
offers is being able to customize your listing price by the day.

You can do this by going on vehicle listing -> Calendar. You will then be able to select
individual days and adjust the price. This is good because most people will tend to book
on weekends. Weekdays are less likely to be booked in my experience. Therefore, to
optimize your booking potential you may want to lower your weekday price (Monday -
Wednesday). This will increase chances that someone may book same or next day if
they’re in a hurry or need a last minute vehicle. Pricing is everything! Remember,
this is YOUR $MONEY$
Marketing
Using Turo can and should be more than just simply renting your vehicle out
to guests. Relying on Turo's algorithm to market you, there's a possibility you
could be shorting yourself.
Here are ways to promote alternative streams of income.

Expenses
A lot of times in business, we are concerned with the money coming in. However, it is
imperative to keep track of what you are spending despite how minute it may seem.

With that being said, I have come across a few expenses that should be considered.
Although it may seem obvious, gas is an expense that you should keep track of.
Establish a routine of keeping receipts anytime you incur an expense related to your
vehicle.

The second and most important expense is cleaning. If you were to be a guest
booking a vehicle, you would expect the vehicle to be in awesome condition
upon picking it up.

This means that after each booking, the car should be disinfected and in proper
standings for the next booking. Make an effort to stay ahead of your cleanings that
way it will always be ready. (If you stay ready you never have to get ready, right?)

It may be necessary to have your car detailed in between each booking or a monthly
plan with a car wash service.

There may be circumstances where your vehicle comes back to where minimal
cleaning is necessary, or on the contrary, detailing may be necessary.

Be mindful that cars can come with various types of expenses, so keep an eye out for
some of the unexpected occurrences that could arise. Some of the more common
maintenance that will need to be included but not limited to, oil changes, regular
service of the vehicle and cleaning.
Liabilities
Owning a car can be a big responsibility. Owning a car and using it for business
purposes is an even bigger responsibility, so it is important to discuss liability.

Turo gives you the option to choose between three different insurance plans that
are visualized on the next page. Turo uses a tier system based on which plan
you choose to determine how much they will deduct from your earnings with
each booking.

When deciding which plan is best for you, you should consider all factors such as
the type of vehicle you have and what it can be used for.

For example, if you have a Jeep and you allow guests to go off roading that
poses a higher risk for incidentals to occur. In addition, a sporty car poses the
risk of people racing and speeding. Once again posing a higher risk.

When looking at these protection plans, remember, the less Turo takes out of
your earnings, the more you are responsible for if something happens.

If an accident does occur, as the host, it is up to you to make the decision if it is

more beneficial to file a claim with Turo or go directly through your insurance.

Cars Drive, MONEY TALKS!
NOW! I'm sure this is the part you've been waiting for. The money
part. I'm sure you're reading this guide because you're interested in
making money with Turo. Turo does a great job in letting you know how
much you should be expecting to earn once someone books with you
and after services are rendered.

There are times when guests could book with you and then cancel.

In this instance, Turo gives the guest a grace period of twenty-four hours
to cancel their booking with no charge to them.

Vice versa, if you are to cancel a booking as a host, Turo will allow this
to occur one time before they begin penalizing you.

Enough with the missed money let us talk profitability .

I would suggest setting up a bank account shortly after you decide that
you are interested in becoming a host. Turo makes it easy to receive
your money by automatically depositing the money into your account
one to three business days after the trip has been finished and check
out is completed.

All you need to do is add your banking information which usually

includes inputting your account number and routing number. If you
decide to go into business with another partner, check with your local
state secretary on how agreements work and the terms that are
included.

If your vehicle is booked for longer than a week, you would
