Aircraft Payload Extender STOL (APE STOL) System for your Cessna Caravan is FAA-Approved and certified under FAA Supplemental Type Certificate number SAO1805SE. The APE STOL System allows you to operate your Caravan at increased takeoff and landing weights with additional Capability in order to perform takeoffs and landings in shorter fields than previously allowed. When operating your Caravan at increased weights with this improved field length performance, this FAA-Approved Pilot's Operating Handbook Supplement (POHS) must accompany the Cessna Caravan Pilot's Operating Handbook. In addition to this POHS your Caravan must be equipped with the following APE Stall Fences mounted at the mid span leading edge of main wing ‘ASI Main Flap Trailing Edge Treatments (P/N C208036-1) Towing and Jacking Limitations Placards (PN C208002-2) ‘Airspeed Limitation Placard Overlay (P/N C208016-1) ‘AAS| Main Landing Gear Axies (PIN C208023-1) 29x 11.0-10 10 Ply Main Landing Gear Tires ‘AeroAcoustics Aircraft Systems is always interested in the safe operation of your Caravan. WING FLAP SETTINGS ‘An optional flap setting of LAND is approved for takeoffs with the APE STOL System installed. Use of LAND flaps provides for a lower liftoff speed, as well as reduction in ground roll and total distance over an obstacle compared to takeoff with flaps TO/APR (Recommended) or UP. LANDING ‘SHORT FIELD LANDING PROCEDURES WITH APE STOL (FLAPS LAND) Wing Flaps ~ FULL DOWN, Airspeed ~ 80 KIAS (Refer to Section 5 of this AFMS for speeds at reduced weights) Power Lever ~ REDUCE to IDLE after clearing obstacles. ‘Touchdown ~ MAIN WHEELS FIRST. Power Lever ~ BETA range (lever against spring) after TOUCHDOWN. NOTE Further reduction of landing roll will result from use of reverse thrust (See Section 5, Landing Distance — Short Field, Note 5 on page 26 of this AFMS) 6. This level was established using test data obtained and analyzed under procedures of 14 CFR 36, Amendment 28 and the equivalent procedures of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Annex 16, Volume |, Sixth Edition, Amendment 40. This airplane complies with Appendix G Noise limits of 14 CFR 36 and Chapter 10 noise limits of ICAO Annex 16. The noise level was obtained at a maximum weight of 9062 pounds (4110 kg) with flaps set at TOIAPR up to 50 feet, then a clim® with flaps UP at a speed of 100 KIAS and maximum power at 4900 RPM and 2397 FT-LB. No determination has been made by the Federal Aviation ‘Administration that the noise level ofthis airplane is, or should be acceptable or unacceptable, for operation at, into, or out of any aifport ‘The following procedures are suggested to minimize the effect of airplane noise on the public: 41. Pilots operating airplanes under VFR over outdoor assemblies of persons, recreational land park areas, and other noise sensitive areas should make every effort to fly not less. ‘than 2000 feet above the surface. weather permitting, even though flight at a lower level can be consistent with the provisions of government regulations, 2. During departure from or approach to an airport, climb after takeoff and descent for landing should be made so as to avoid prolonged flight at low altitude near noise- sensitive areas. NOTE ‘The above recommended procedures do not apply where they would confict with Air ‘Traffic Control clearances or instructions, or where, in the pllo’s judgment, an altitude of less than 2000 feet is necessary to adequately exercise the duty to See and avoid other airplanes.
