Working Research Title:

URBAN SANCTUARY: AN INCLUSIVE PUBLIC SPACE THAT PROMOTES HARMONY AND WELL-BEING

Statement of the Problem (Synthesize into 1 sentence):

In the context of rapid development and associated stressors, the lack of public spaces

designed as urban sanctuaries is detrimental to community well-being, emphasizing the

importance of creating and advocating for these spaces that encourage harmony and reduce

the variety of challenges inherent in modern city life.

3 Research / Project Objectives:

1. To help people that are experiencing work burnout, and to reduce their mental and
physical stress. (UN SDG No. 3 Good Health and Well-Being); According to the
study of Deloitte, 70% of the Gen-Z and 63% of the millennials are experiencing burnout
in the Philippines because of their workload.

2. By providing them a biophilic-designed facilities and social grounds that caters

various people to reduce their mental load. (UN SDG No. 10 Reducing Inequality);
Base on the article of University of Arkansas humans tend to follow routines, and many
of the people are naturally inclined to seek the outdoors to experience the liberating
sense of freedom that nature offers. By providing a biophilic-designed architectural
buildings, it can offer a sense of freedom to the users.

3. To promote solidarity and socialization among the diverse users. (UN SDG No. 17
Partnership for Goals)

 Many people especially on urban cities are experiencing work burnout.

 With a rising number of mental health problems among millennials and gen-z,
work burnout can be one of the reason.
 Urban sanctuary with biophilic-design can help to reduce the no. of people that
are experiencing workplace burnout.
 To promote greenscapes even in urban areas.
 Busy people can have no social life, this research and architectural design
promotes socialization and solidarity.
