Sub. – Under rating of Self-starter in UTV-141 Regd.

Sir,
UTV-141 allotted to PGT division was commissioned on 28/08/2022. The machine is
fitted with Ashok Leyland engine with model no. ALIN 6TI/5 of 450 HP at 2200 rpm. Self-
starter for the engine is of model number SEG Automotive(X7495300) with rating of 5 kW is
provided.
On 09/10/2023 the engine is unable to start, not even cranking. So the machine was
hauled with relief engine to clear block section. For the same capacity Cummins Engine
NTA-855 is provided with Self Starter of 39MT 3103914 with rating of 8.5 kW. Based on
the capacity of the engine, the self-starter suspected to be under rated in UTV-141.
So please do the needful to provide the higher range of self-starter and wet type to
avoid entering of transmission oil into the self starter with extra sealing.
