On 10th April 2020, at 12.30 PM (Indian Time) a client of mine from the
Philippines asked me a question (Prashna) regarding her mother, her
words were “she is under monitoring, she might have COVID and has
shown symptoms already except fever, she is quarantined in their old
house”.

Important note before we proceed – In this article, I am going to reveal


my method based on Prashna Marga (which deals with the
Ashtamangala system of Prashna) and I have also used Akshara Arudha
which is a method of Ashtamangala, only for this reason the article is
named “Ashtamangala Rogaprashna”, and also because of the fact that
in the article I am going to touch upon some basic rules of
Ashtamangala, but note that Ashtamangala is a complex process and is
generally not done online and the article doesn’t deal with either
Ashtamangala or Ashtamanagala Rogaprashna in complete detail.

Now, from this section onwards, I am going to type relevant Shloka’s


from Prashna Marga and also my analysis of the same with respect to
this chart, my comment on the Shlokaa’s other than the analysis will be
in Italics.

Based on the first letter of the sentence uttered by a questioner at the


time of Prashna, one can tell all good and bad results based on that.
Now Based on Aryasaptati (also known as Prashna Gyana) it is told how
the Akshara Arudha is found.

“Aa” Varga, “Ka” Varga, “Cha” Varga, “Ta” Varga, “Pa” Vargaa and “Ya”
Varga are ruled by Sun, Mars, Venus, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn and Moon
respectively. In the case of the planets owing more that one sign, take
an even-numbered letter for their even signs and odd-numbered letters
for their odd signs. See the table for more clarification.

There are many types of Arudha’s in Ashtamangala Prashna or in


Prashna normally, it is just one of them. If one wants to know more
about predictions based on letters uttered by a questioner then one
should study, Aryasaptati (Prashna Gyana) by Bhatottapala, Prashna
Vidya by Sage Garga and Akshara Kosha by Sage Yavaneshwara.
Other Arudha types will be covered in a separate article or video. There is
a complete method of predicting based on letters uttered by the
questioner only, to be dealt with in a later write-up.

This Akshara Arudha can be used very benefitting to answer more than
one query using the same chart either by the same person or by many
questioners. Generally what happens is that Lagna changes in 2 hours
(approximately) but many questions came in two hours, so one can
resort to this classical method to answer them all.

Her first word was “Hy” which comes under the rulership of Moon,
hence Cancer was taken as Arudha Lagna, which is also the birth lagna,
a case where the analysis becomes simpler, as otherwise, one has to
check a chart from both rising ascendants (Udaya Lagna) and also from
Arudha Lagna (ascendant).

Bad and good time to ask a Prashna (Prashna Muhurta)

अष्टमीिविष्टिरक्तासु िस्थरेषु करणेषु च।।२.१६।।

चक्राद्धे ग्रहणे सापर्िशरस्येकागर्ले तथा।।२.१८।।
मृत्युदग्धािदयोगेषु पापदृष्युदयेषु च।
त्रयोदश्यां प्रदोषे च िनशीथे रिवदशर्ने।।२.१९।।
संक्रान्तौ च तथा राशौ जन्माष्टमगते िवधौ।।२.१९।।
इत्यािद दुष्टकालेषु प्रश्नस्यादशुभप्रदः।।२.२०।।
इत्यािददोषरिहते कालेमृतघटीषुच।
शुभानामुदये दृष्टौ मुहूतेर्षु शुभेषु च।
िसद्धामृतािदयोगेषु पृच्छाभीष्टफलप्रदा।।२.२१।।

One should not ask questions at the time when Moon is in


“Balannavarjya Nakshatra” which are Bharani, Krittika, Ardra,
Ashlesha, Magha, PurvaPhalguni, Visakha, Jyestha, Mula, PurvaShadha
and PurvaBhadraprad.
When Moon is in Gandanta Nakshatra (Asvini, Ashlesha, Magha,
Jyestha, Mula and Revati).
One should not ask a question in Ushna and Visa Ghati, given below.
The question should not be asked on Ashtami (8th lunar day) or in
Bhadra or Rikta Tithi’s which are the 2nd, 7th, 12th, 4th, 9th and 14th
lunar day’s.
Questions also should not be asked when fixed Karana’s are going on,
fixed Karana’s are Shakuni, Chatuspada, Naga and Kimasthughna
(Which means no question in 2nd haft of Krishna Chaturdashi, the whole
of Amavasya and the first half of Shukla Pratipada).
Questions should not be asked when Tithi, Nakshatra, Navansha or
Rashi Sandhi ( joint) is there (Tithi Sandhi is when Purna is finishing and
Nanda is starting, which means junction of 5th and 6th lunar days, the
junction of 10th and 11th lunar days and the junction of
Amavasya/Punima and Pratipada. Rashi and Nakshatra Gandanta’s are
the same which resonates with the junction of Ashlesha – Magha,
Jyestha – Mula and Revati – Asvini).
The question should not be asked when Gulika is in Lagna, or when bad
Yoga’s such as Vyatipata and Vaidhriti is there.
The question should not be asked before and after three days of a solar
or lunar eclipse.
The question also should not be asked when Sarpasheersha, Ekargala,
Mrityu or Dagdha etc bad conditions are there. (When Moon and Sun
both are together or separately are in the 3rd and 4th quarter of
Anuradha then this combination occurs, or say the combined longitude
of Sun + Moon = 7.03.20. Ekargala happens when Vyaghaat, Ganda,
Vyatipata, Shula, Vaidhriti, Vajra, Paridha or Atiganda Yoga is there and
also at the same time Moon is in odd-numbered Nakshatra from Sun.
There are two types of Mrityu Yoga one happens when on Sunday Moon
is in Anuradha, Monday in Uttarashada, Tuesday in Shatabhisa,
Wednesday in Asvini, Thursday in Mrigashira, Friday in Ashlesha and
Saturday in Hasta. Another type of Mrityu Yoga happens when on
Sunday the Nakshatra is Magha, Monday – Visakha, Tuesday – Ardra,
Wednesday – Mula, Thursday – Shatbhisa, Friday – Rohini and Saturday –
PurvaShadha. Dagdha happens when Sunday considers with Dvadshi
Tithi, Monday with Ekadashi, Tuesday with Panchami, Wednesday with
Tritiya, Thursday with Shasthi, Friday with Ashtami and Saturday with
Navami. Another Dagdha arises with a combination between weekdays
and Moon’s Nakshatra they are Sunday – Bharani, Monday – Chitra,
Tuesday – UttaraShadha, Wednesday – Dhanistha, Thursday –
UttaraPhalguni, Friday – Jyestha and Saturday – Revati. There is also
Dagdha Tithi based on the sign Sun’s is transiting, which is when Sun is
in Sagittarius or Pisces then Dvitiya is Dagdha, Taurus or Aquarius
Chaturthi is Dagdha, Aries or Cancer Shasthi is Dagdha, Gemini or Virgo
Ashtami is Dagdha, Leo or Scorpio Dasami is Dagdha or Aquarius or
Scorpio Dvadasi is Dagdha, as these Dagdha’s are based on ten prime
bad combinations of marriage, according to me it should be considered
as Dagdha told in Shloka).
The questions also should not be asked when ascendant is aspected by a
malefic, or in Pradosha time in Trayodashi (The end of Trayodashi and
start of Chaturdashi is considered Pradosha), or in the midnight, or
when Sun seems abnormal, or when at sunrise meteors etc. shine in the
sky, or at the time of Sankranti (when Sun changes his sign), When
Vipad, Pratyari or Vadha Tara is there (of the questioner), Lagna at the
time of query should not be the 8th from birth Lagna, or Moon at the
time of question should not be in 8th from birth Moon or from question
time ascendant, or at bad times when inauspicious events occur such as
fall of meteors, comets etc.
These conditions give bad results/inauspicious results in/to a Prashna.

Can you avoid all these times, of course not, these are the bad
considerations at the time of a Prashna, when these happen then bad
results follow, generally my advice is to take them as very bad factors
which turn Prashna’s prospect negative.

Many of these conditions, I also observe while looking into normal/birth


charts, generally speaking, according to me birth chart’s should not be
seen when Moon is in Ashlesha-Magha, Jyestha-Mula or Revati-Asvaini
Nakshatra’s (as they are Balannavarjita Nakshatra’s as well as
Gandanta Nakshatras.
Charts should not be seen also in Amavasya as it is both Tithi Sandi and
Sthira Karana.
I also recommend not to see charts (birth chart’s) at the time of Surya
Sankranti, and Grahana/eclipse (It is the best time for spiritual Sadhana
why not utilise it to the fullest and avoid leaving your spiritual powers
vulnerable to the client’s bad Karma’s (which you interfere with when
you look at a chart).
I also have seen that generally when Astrologer’s Sampada, Vipata or
Pratyari Tara is there then at that time generally client’s are not happy
with astrologer’s findings or they are childish enough to get angry when
their desired result is not told by astrologer, hence analyzing charts on
these days should also be avoided.

A good time to read a Prashna chart is when the above bad conditions
are not there, Moon is in Amritghati of a Nakshatra, lagna is aspected
or tenanted by a benefic planet, in good Muhurta when Siddhi or
Amrita Yoga is there, these give good results to the questioner.
Siddhi Yoga happens when Friday comes on 1st, 6th or 11th lunar day,
Wednesday comes on 2nd, 7th or 12th Lunar day, Tuesday comes on 3rd,
8th or 13th lunar day, Saturday comes on 4th, 9th or 14th lunar day or
Thursday comes on 5th, 10th or 15th or 30th lunar day.
Amrita Yoga is there when Sunday or Tuesday comes on 1st, 6th or 11th
lunar day, Monday or Friday comes on 2nd, 7th or 12th lunar day,
Wednesday comes on 3rd, 8th or 13th lunar day, Thursday comes on
4th, 9th or 14th lunar day or Saturday comes on 5th, 10th, 15th or 30th
lunar day.
Siddha Yoga is also there when Sunday comes with Moon in Hasta
Nakshatra but not on the 5th lunar day, Monday with Mrigashira but
not on 6th lunar day, Tuesday with Asvini but not on 7th lunar day,
Wednesday with Anuradha but not on the 8th lunar day, Thursday with
Pushya but not on 9th lunar day, Friday with Revati but not on 10th
lunar day, or Saturday with Rohini but not on 11th lunar day.

There are three different tables of Muhurta’s as far as I know, I am


reproducing them below. Generally in day time 1st, 2nd, 4th, 10th, 11th,
12th and 15th Muhurta’s are bad whereas, in night time 1st, 2nd, 6th
and 7th Nakshatra’s are bad, but sometimes some Nakshatra’s are bad
on a particular day for example On Sunday Aryama, Monday – Brahma
and Raksha, Tuesday – Pitara and Agni, Wednesday – Abhijit, Thursday –
Rakshasa and Jala, Friday – Pitara and Brahma, Saturday – Shiv and
Sarpa (based on the Famous fixed table)are considered bad.

In the Prashna, demerits are Balannavarjya Nakshatra (Visakha),


Bhadra Visti Karana, Ekargala Yoga, Lagna aspected by malefics (Mars
and Saturn), and Pratyaka Tara from the questioner’s birth chart.
Favourable conditions were Lagna aspected by benefic (Jupiter –
debilitated but vargottama) and in Abhijit Muhurta.

Svara (breath) at the time of Prashna.

वारेिश्वन्दुबुधािडगरोभृगुभुवां वामे चरण मारुतो

There is a complete method of predicting based on the breath of the


astrologer at the time when a query is asked, this is known as Svarodaya
Shastra, there are multiple texts dealing with the same, in
Ashtamangala Prashna also Svara (breath) is also considered very
carefully, a short method of the same is given in the Shloka.

Breath (Svara) is auspicious if on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday or on


Friday it is running through the left nostril or on Sunday, Tuesday or
Saturday it is running through the right nostril. If on days of benefic
planets the breath is flowing through the right nostril or on days ruled
by malefic planets it is following through the left nostril, then it is
inauspicious.

Breath flowing through the left nose is called Vama Svara or Pingala
Nadi which is ruled by Moon and breath flowing through the right nostril
is called Dakshina Svara or Ida Nadi which is ruled by Sun, when the
breath flows through both the nostrils it is known as breath flowing
through Sushumna.

It was a question asked on Friday when breath was passing through my


left nostrils, hence positive indications.

Because the Gulika/Mandi calculations given in Jagannath Hora is


wrong, the software usually calculates Trisphuta, Chatusphuta and
Panchasphuta incorrectly, the real method is given below.
Mandi rise time = Sunrise time + [(Day span or Night span)/15] X
Muhurta count for that day. Muhurta count for the day and night are
separate, given together separate by a slash (/) Sunday 13/05, Monday
11/03, Tuesday 09/01, Thursday 05/13, Friday 03/09 and Saturday
01/07.
Lagna longitude for the above calculated time = Mandi longitude for the
day.

The addition to Lagna, Moon and Mandi’s longitude is known as


Trisphuta. Adding to Lagan, Moon, Mandi and Sun’s longitude is known
as Chatusphuta and adding of Lagna, Moon, Mandi, Sun and Rahu’s
longitude is known as Panchasphuta.
Lagna longitude and Moon longitude multiplied by 5 and Mandi’s
degree added to it gives Prana Sphuta (longitude), Lagna longitude and
Moon longitude multiplied by 8 and Mandi’s degree added to it gives
Deha Sphuta (longitude), Mandi longitude multiplied by 7 and Sun’s
longitude added to it is Mrityu Sphuta (longitude).
Ghatika passed from sunrise (1 Ghatika 24 minutes), multiplied by 120
divided by total Ghatika added to Sun’s longitude, if Sun is in a fixed
sign then subtract 04 signs (120 degrees) or when Sun is in a dual sign
add 04 signs (120 degrees) to the answer, this gives us another type of
Prana Sphuta (longitude).
Multiply Ghatika (passed from sunrise) by 36 and divide total Ghatika in
a day from it, let’s take the answer as X, now on Sunday X + 30 degrees,
Monday X + 300 degrees, Tuesday X + 60 degrees 15 minutes,
Wednesday X + 150 degree 05 minutes, Thursday X + 120 degrees,
Friday X + 210 degrees, Saturday X + 240 degrees 15 minutes gives
another type of Mrityu Sphuta (longitude)
The same X obtained above should be subtracted to find Kala Sphuta
(longitude), the formula is on Sunday X – 30 degrees, Monday X – 300
degrees, Tuesday X – 60 degrees 15 minutes, Wednesday X – 150 degrees
05 minutes, Thursday X – 120 degrees, Friday X – 210 degrees, Saturday
X – 240 degrees.

My general advice/formula to calculate them is Trisphuta = Lagna


longitude + Moon longitude + Mandi Longitude, Chatusphuta =
Trisphuta + Sun longitude, Panchasphuta = Chatusphuta + Rahu’s
longitude, Prana Sphuta = Lagna longitude X 5 + Mandi longitude, Deha
Sphuta = Moon longitude X 8 + Mandi Longitude, Mrityu Sphuta =
Mandi Longitude X 7 + Sun’s longitude.

Calculated for the Prashna – Mandi longitude 11 degrees 35 minutes


Taurus, Trisphuta 14 degrees 01 minutes Pisces, Chatusphuta 10
degrees 01 minutes Pisces, Panchansphuta 08 degrees 13 minutes
Virgo, Prana Sphuta 09 degrees 30 minutes Virgo, Deha Sphuta 16

Sutrapanchaka (Five formula’s to judge a Prashna/chart)

आरुढोदयलग्नाभ्यां सूत्रं सामान्यसंिज्ञतम्।


तादीशाभ्यां तु यिच्चन्त्यं तत्स्यादिघपसंज्ञकम।।६.१।।
लग्नांशारूढरािशभ्यांसूत्रमंशकसंिज्ञतम।
लग्नोडु पृच्छकोडु भ्यां िचं त्यं नक्षत्रसंिज्ञतम्।।६.२।।

To judge a chart from Arudha and Lagna longitude is called normal


formula, to judge a chart from lord of Lagna and Arudha is known as
lord formula, to judge a chart from Lagna Navansha and Arudha is
known as Amsa (Navansha) formula, judging from Lagna’s Nakshatra
and Native’s Nakshatra is known as Nakshatra formula and to judge
from Arudha and 10th from Arudha is known as Maha (great) formula.

Sutra means formula, the formula is a concise method to come at


accurate results, other than this there are also Jaimini Sutra which gives
some really short and concise formula to read a chart and it rarely fails,
one should see the Jaimini rule’s and it’s true/right application to
relish/understand it.
Here the author, Vishnu Namboodiri, is hinting at some definite points,
from where chart (Prashna) can be seen for results. For example when it
is told malefic in 8th, then looking at malefics in 8th from Prashna Lagna
and Arudha is a normal formula, from lord of Prashna Lagna and Arudha
is Adhipa Sutra etc.

Jeeva, Mrityu and Roga Sutra

आरुढोदययोद्वर् न्द्वं चररािशगतं यिद।।६.५

If Arudha and Prashna Lagna are both in movable signs or when one of
them is in a fixed sign and another in dual sign then it is Jeeva Sutra
(Jeeva Sutra gives life). When one of them is in movable sign and
another in dual sign then or when both of them is in fixed signs then it
is Mrityu Sutra (death indicated) when both of them are either in
movable signs or when one of them is in a movable sign and another in a
fixed sign then it is Roga Sutra (disease indicated).
When judging through Amsha Sutra, instead of taking Lagna one should
take Lagna Navansha.

Very much similar to the Jaimini system, it looks like the author have
taken the short-long-middle life formula of Jaimini and
interpreted/modified it to indicate life (long life), disease (middle life)
and death (short life). As a devout follower of the real Jaimini system, I
will proudly claim here that Jaimini has been in usage for a long and
many Acharya’s either knowingly or unknowingly have used it to its
rules to their best understanding, knowledge and interpretation.

In the Prashna chart at hand Lagna and Arudha, both were in Cancer
indicating Jeeva sutra under Samanya Sutra which was the first
indication towards my conclusion (and latter true prediction) on her
mother’s well-being. Lord of Lagna and Arudha is the same Moon in the
movable sign Libra hence Adhipa Sutra also indicates Jeeva Sutra, Lagna
Navansha in Leo and Lagna in Cancer indicates Roga Sutra under Amsha
Sutra. Two sutras indicate Jeeva whereas one indicates Roga, hence the
person (her mother) has a long life but currently is diseased.

If in a movable ascendant the Navansha Lagna is movable, fixed or dual


then it indicates life, disease and death respectively, in a fixed
ascendant dual, movable and fixed Navansha indicates longevity,
disease and death respectively, in a dual ascendant if Navansha is fixed,
dual or movable then it indicates longevity, disease and death
respectively.
Use this method for Navansha Sutra.

If the lord of Arudha and Prashna Lagna is one or they are friends then
it indicates longevity, if they are mutually neutral then it indicates
disease and when they are mutually inimical towards each other then it
indicates death.

This is Adhipa Sutra


Here in this method use Satyacharya’s method of finding enmity and
friendship between planets. The rule is lord of 2nd, 4th, 5th, 8th, 9th and
12th from Mula-Trikona sign of any planet are its friends, lord of 3rd,
6th, 7th, 10th or 11th sign from Mula-Trikona sign of any planet are its
enemies and when a planet becomes the lord of both a friendly and
inimical house then it becomes neutral towards that planet.

Count from Lagna Nakshatra (of Prashna) to the questioner’s Moon


Nakshatra, then divide the answer by 3, if the remainder is 1 then it
indicates longevity, remainder 2 indicates disease and remainder 0
indicates death.

This is Nakshatra Sutra.

In the Prashna, the Lagna Nakshatra is Pushya, the Nakshatra of the


questioner was UttaraShadha, the count from Pushya to UttaraShadha
is 14, which when divided by 3 gives 2 as remainder which indicates that
the native will remain diseased.

If Arudha and 10th from it are Moon signs then it indicates longevity, if
they are Sun signs then it indicates death if one of them is moon sign
and another is Sun sign then it indicates disease.

This is Mahasutra.

Here Dr B. V. Raman says Moon ruled signs are hind-rising signs which
are Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Sagittarius and Capricorn, Sun ruled
signs are head-rising signs which are Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Aquarius
and Pisces. However, as per accepted cannons of Vedic Jyotish (refer
Saravali Chapter 3, Shloka 9), six signs in direct order from Leo are ruled
by Sun and six signs in reverse order from Cancer are ruled by Moon.
Hence Sun ruled signs are Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius and
Capricorn. Moon ruled signs are Cancer, Gemini, Taurus, Aries, Pisces
and Aquarius.

In the Prashna, Arudha is in Cancer and 10th from it is Aries, both signs
ruled by Moon hence longevity is indicated.

Longlife and freedom from the disease are results of longevity Sutra
(Jeeva Sutra), the occurrence of disease and suffering from it for a long
time is the result of disease Sutra (Roga Sutra), the death of questioner
or the person related to Prashna Chart is the result of death Sutra
(Mrityu Sutra).
In Jeeva Sutra the questioner gets gains as per his wishes, in Roga Sutra
the word/undertaking gets destroyed or such inauspicious results take
place, in Mrityu Sutra misery, fear etc disastrous results happen.

Death combinations from Trisphuta

Trisphuta becomes more and more blemished in Cancer, Scorpio and


Pisces (respectively), in the same manner, it is more and more
blemished in Ashlesha, Jyestha and Revati Nakshatras, If Trisphuta is in
these Rashi’s or Nakshatras then it becomes more and more blemished.

Aries etc four signs are named creation (Aries, Taurus, Gemini and
Cancer), Leo etc four signs are named sustenance (Leo, Virgo, Libra and
Scorpio) and Sagittarius etc four signs are named destruction
(Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces). Three Nakshatra’s from
PurvaBhadraprad and three Navansha’s from the first Navansha and
four-four signs from Lagna are also termed as creation, sustenance and
destruction.
In the Nakshatra or Rashi names Vinasa, in Gandanta Nakshatra or
Rashi or in 80th Navansha from questioner’s Navansha, Trisphuta is not
good.

In the Prashna, Trisphuta is in 14 degrees 01 minutes Pisces, which is


destruction Rashi, UttaraBhadra Nakshatra which is a sustenance
Nakshatra, 5th Navansha which is again sustenance and 9th house
which is destruction house. There is a tie here, considering other
factors as well my answer was positive.

If the Trisphuta comes in last Navansha of Cancer one dies with one
year, Last Navansha of Scorpio death in one month and Last Navansha
of Pisces death within one day should be predicted.

Multiply Trisphuta by 9, leave the signs, take minutes and degrees and
multiply it by 12, it gives Navansha and Dvadasamsa, if it comes in the
junction of signs (Gandanta), or if it is in the birth Nakshatra of the
questioner then it certainly gives death.
Stronger between the Rashi or Navansha position of Trisphuta if falls in
the sign of natal Moon then it gives death or in Leo or Sagittarius
Navansha gives death in old age.

Trisphuta conjoined by Gulika or malefics is not good, whichever


Nakshatra it occupies, it gives disease in that Nakshatra, if it is having
any of the nine blemishes then disaster falls on native if it is in
Nakshatra or Rashi signifying creation or it is with benefics then it gives
long life and health.

These nine blemishes are Nakshatra Visaghati, Ushnaghati, Gandanta,


Vyatipataa, Ekargala, Vaidhriti, Mandi and Saarpsheersha (explained
earlier).

Panchasphuta Death Combinations

लग्नािहमांदीन्दुरिवस्फुटानां योगे भवेयुयर्िद जन्मभािन।


वधक्ष्रवैनािशकपौष्णभािन मृत्युिवपत्प्रत्यरयोश्च साध्यः।।६.४३।।
दीघार्युदृढ़मािदशेद्यिद तनोमृत्योयुर्तीक्षािदकं।
पीड़ा स्याद्वपुषो रुजाथ तदसोमोर्हप्रदं पृच्छताम।।६.४४।।

प्रागलग्नं पंचिनघ्नं गुिलकयुतमासुं प्राहुिरदुं वसुघ्नं
मान्ध्याठ्यं चािप देहं मुिनहतगुिलकं भानुयुक्तं च मृत्युम।
प्रणािधक्ये तु रोगः शमनमथ रुजां देहवृद्धौ प्रवृद्धे
मृत्यौ स्यात्तेषु मृत्युजर्िनभमुपगते सापर्पौष्णेन्द्रभे वा।।६.४६।।

If Panchasphuta comes in birth Rashi or in Vadha Tara, Vainasika


Nakshatra, or in Revati Nakshatra or in Vipata or Pratyari Tara then it
gives death.
Vadha Tara is 22nd Nakshatra (from Natal Moon), Vainasika Nakshatra
is the 88th quarter of this 22nd Nakshatra, Vipata is 3-12-21 Nakshatra
from Moon and Pratyari is 5-14-23 Nakshatra from Moon.

From UttaraShadha, UttaraPhalguni, where Prashna Panchasphuta


falls, is 19th Nakshatra, it is safe. It is to be noted that Dr B.V.Raman
translates जन्मभािन as Janma Nakshatra, which will lead to wrong
judgement.

Known Lagna Navansha as Prana, Moon Navansha as Deha and Gulika


Navansha as Mrityu. If planets signifying Prana and Deha are related by
aspect or conjunction and there is no connection of planet signifying
Mrityu then long life is to be predicted. If Deha is influenced by Mrityu
then pain in the body and disease is to be predicted, if Prana is
influenced by Mrityu then illusion to the diseased/questioner is to be
predicted.

In the Prashna, Deha is influenced by Mrityu hence pain and disease in


the body is to be predicted.

If Lagna, Moon and Mandi are in a Dual Navansha then it gives death, in
fixed Navansha gives disease and in movable Navansha they give
longevity, If they are mutually 5th or 9th signs then it gives deaded
disease if they three aspects each other then it gives unconsciousness,
if conjoined to each other they give death, in trine to Cancer (Cancer,
Scorpio, Pisces) then they give death for sure.

In Prashna, Lagna and Moon Navansha is in fixed signs, hence they give
disease.

Prashna Lagna multiplied by 5 and Mandi’s longitude added to it gives


Prana, Moon multiply by 8 and Mandi added to it gives Deha and Mandi
multiplied by 7 and Sun (Sun’s longitude) added to it gives Mrityu. If
Prana is more it gives freedom from disease, if Deha is more it gives
disease, if Mrityu is more or if Mrityu is in birth sign or it is in Ashlesha,
Revati or Jyestha Nakshatra it gives death.

Arudha exaltation and debilitation

If Arudha Rashi coincides with the exaltation or debilitation sign of the


weekday lord then Arudha is also exalted or debilitated, in such cases
(in exaltation) it gives freedom from disease otherwise (in debilitation)
gives death.

Arudha Death Combinations

आरूढ़लग्नभांशानांमांदीरािशनवांशयोः।
योगो रोगप्रदस्तत्र बहुयोगो मृित्तप्रदः।।८.२०।।
आरूढे वा िवलग्ने वा गण्डान्तांशः सपापदृक।
उदेित चेदभवेन्मृत्युरारुढाष्टमभे तथा।।८.२२।।

Arudha Sign, Lagna Sign, Arudha Navansha or Lagna Navansha if any


two of them conjoin the Rashi or Navansha or Mandi then it gives
death, in the questions related to disease, if there is no malefic in
Arudha say there is no disease, in other Prashna as well, according to
malefic planets in Arudha diseases related to them is to be told.

Arudha Sign, Lagna Sign or the sign in 8th from Arudha comes in last
Navansha of Gandanta signs and it is conjoined or aspected by malefics
then death is to be told.

मांदीन्दुदयलग्नांशा मृत्युदेहासवश्चरे।
आयुरारोग्यदासत्वैते रोगदैघ्यर्प्रदा िस्थरे।।८.३७।।

Gulika, Moon, Lagna and Lagna Navansha and Mrityu, Deha and Prana if
they are in movable signs then it indicates longevity and freedom from
the disease if in a fixed sign they indicate long-lasting disease if they
are in dual signs (combined) then the disease is to be told. If they
mutually aspect then it gives the illusion and if they are in mutual trines
then it gives dreaded diseases.
The relationship between Prana and Deha gives longevity, the
relationship between Deha and Mrityu gives disease and the
relationship between Prana and Mrityu gives illusion (fits/death).

आरुढेन तदीशेन लग्नलग्नांशकािधपैः।
इन्द्वशेनेन्दुना युक्तौ मृत्युकालौ मृित्तप्रदौ।।८.५१।।

Now, telling results of Prana, Deha and Mrityu obtained by Lagna and
Moon both multiplied by 5 and 8 respectively.
If Deha is more then freedom from disease, Prana is more than deadly
disease and if Mrityu is more then death is to be predicted.
If Mrityu is in Jyestha, Ashlesha or Revati or in birth-Nakshatra of the
questioner then death happens, otherwise, Mrityu, Prana and Deha
respectively give good results, if they are more (advanced in a sign, or
the resultant after multiplication is more).

Now, the results of Lagna Navansha is Prana, Moon Navansha is Deha


and Mandi Navansha is Mrityu is being told.
Some teachers also judge results based on their advancement (in
Rashi/zodiac), if the passed duration of Lagna is more then increase in
disease, if Moon’s passed duration is more than freedom from disease
or if Mandi’s passed duration/degree is more then death is to be
predicted.
If the Prana longitude is between malefics or is between Mriyu or Kala
(Upagraha’s) or aspected/conjoined by them, then the death of the
questioner is to be predicted, if it is with Moon then it gives good
results.
If Mrityu or Kala is conjoined with Arudha Sign, Arudha’s lord, Lagna
Sign, Lagna Lord, Lagna Navansha, Lagna Navansha Lord, Moon or
Moon Navansha then it gives death.

Chandra Kriya

प्रश्नकालसुधाभानुिक्रयाणां सदृश्यं◌ं फलम।


प्रष्टुव्रक्तिमत्युक्तं जीवैनैतिद्विलख्यते।।८.६४।।
क्रमाच्चन्द्रिक्रयाः पंच पंच मेषािद रािशषु।

As per Brihaspati, results identical to the name given to 60 Kriya’s of


the moon is to be told to the questioner.
In Twelve signs from Aries, 6-6 minutes is to be given per Chandra Kriya
and then their result according to their name is to be told.

If the Lagna lord is strong in Kendra and he is either in a movable sign or


Navansha then it is a question about a healthy person. If the Lagna lord
is weak in the 12th or 6th house and in a fixed sign then the question is
related to a person suffering from a serious disease. If conditions are
mixed then the situation is to be inferred by high or low tide.

High or low tide is also known as Toyakshaya, is a condition that is


decided based on the position of the Moon from the ascendant. If the
Moon is between Lagna to 4th house or between the seventh house to
10th house then it is of high tide, when the moon is placed between the
4th house to 7th house or between the 10th house to Lagna then it is of
low tide.

In the Prashna under consideration, Moon the Lagna lord is in a Kendra


is a movable sign, but in a fixed Navansha, Moon being in the fourth
house it is a case of high tide, which indicates that the person (about
whom the Prashna is asked) is not diseased.

Three Yoga’s for a long life.

लग्नािधपश्च मृितपश्च िमथः समेतौ


यद्वास्वतुङ्गािनजगेहसुहृदगृहस्थौ।
लग्नेशशुक्रिधशणाश्चधनित्रकोण
केंद्रिस्थता िवदघते खलु दीघर्मायुः।।९.१२।।

Lagna lord or eight lords together in any house or they both are
exalted, in own Rashi or in friendly Rashi or Lagna Lord, Venus and
Jupiter are in 2nd house, 5th house, 9th house or Kendra then certainly
there is long life.

In the Prashna, Moon who is Lagna Lord is in exalted Navansha, Saturn


the eighth lord is in his own Rashi in the seventh house and Lagna Lord
and Venus are in Kendra’s indicating long life.

Five factors of longevity assessment.

लग्नंिवलग्नपितमृत्युदीशचंद्राः
प्रष्टायुषोवगमने खलु साधनािन।
तेषां शुभाशुभदृगन्वयवीयर्वत्ता
िनवीर्यर्तादीगुणदोषवशािद्विचन्तयं।।९.१८।।

दोषा गुणास्त्रयं इमे वपुषः शुभानां।
स्वेशस्य सङ् गमदृशौ च गुणौ भवतां
दोषा गुणाश्च खुल लग्नवदष्टमस्य।।९.१९।।
पापान्वयेक्षणशुभेतरमध्यवास
मौठ्यािरनीचभगमास्तनुपस्यदोषाः।
तुङ्गात्मबन्धुभवनिस्थितसौम्ययोग

चंद्रस्यािरमृितव्ययिस्थितरसन्मध्यिस्थतीक्षान्वयाः
क्षणीत्वं तनुगत्वमत्र िनजनीचािप्तश्च दोषा इमे।
पूणर्त्वंशुभमध्यवासयुितदृग्देवड़् यकेंद्रिस्थता
स्थानं तुङ्गगृहे युितश्च गुरुणा साङ् गे.िवशेषादगुणाः।।९.२२।।
त्र्यायािरष्वसदा वासो दीघार्युष्यकृदीिरतः।
वराहिमिहरेणैव पद्येन गुरुशािदना।।९.२३।।

Lagna, Lagna lord, eight houses, eighth lord and Moon are the five
factors to judge longevity. Good aspect, the conjunction of benefits
and their strength are three virtues and malefic aspect, malefic
conjunction and weakness are demerits, based on these factors one
should judge longevity.

Lagna hemmed between two malefics, aspected by malefics or


conjoined with malefics are three demerits, and its placement between
two benefics (in 12th and 2nd house), aspect of benefics and benefic
conjunctions are three merits. The aspect of its lord (Lagna lord) or
conjunction (of Lagna lord) is also a merit of Lagna. The merits and
demerits of the eighth house are the same as of Lagna.

Malefic conjunction, malefic aspect, hemmed in between malefics,


combustion, being placed in inimical sign or being debilitated are
demerits of Lagna lord. Placement in exaltation sign, placement in own
sign, conjunction with benefic planets, aspected by benefic planets,
hemmed in between benefics and retrogression are the merits of Lagna
lord.

Here two things are to be noted very carefully, hemmed in between


malefics is a very bad condition for longevity, this rule when tested in
birth charts also gives fantastic results. Also, some naive people in
astrology may opine that retrogression (as per the Shloka) is a good
condition as it is opposed to combustion as a demerit for Lagna lord,
However, it is not so because Varahamihira in his Brihat Jataka tells us to
multiply the longevity given by a retrograde planet by three, only on that
grounds here retrogression is taken as a merit for Lagna lord,
retrogression making any planet benefic is not true. The importance of
Varahamihira and his work is fairly clear from the first chapter of the
text itself, where the author himself tells that “one wearing the garland
of Varahamihira’s Horashastram will win every astrological argument
and will make amazing astrological arguments” my Guru always told me
that Ashtamangala Prashna is nothing but an interpretation of
Varahamihira’s Brihat Jataka from Prashna’s perspective.

The merits and demerits of the eighth lord are also the same as that of
the Lagna lord, just being placed in a Kendra is not merit for the eighth
lord as it is for the Lagna lord.
Being placed in the 6th, 8th or 12th house, hemmed in between
malefics, aspected by malefics, conjoined by malefics, being debilitated
in Lagna are the demerits of Moon. Being Full (nearing Purnima)
hemmed in between benefics, conjoined by benefics, aspected by
benefics, being placed with Jupiter in Kendra, being in own sign, or
being with exalted Jupiter (in Lagna) are the merits of Moon.

Malefics in 3rd, 6th and 11th give longevity, as told by Varahamihira in


his “GuruShashiSahite KuleerLagne” Shloka.

This once again, emphasises the importance of Varahamihira’s Brihat


Jataka and its importance in Prashna, and for that matter in complete
astrology. Varahamihira’s text named Horashastram and popularly
known as Brihat Jatakam is the best treatise, concise yet most
authoritative, remember my Guru’s wordings about what is
Ashtamangala Prashna? Brihat Jataka is such a great text that it needs a
separate article to explain its greatness.

Varahamihira’s Shloka
गुरुशिशसिहते कुलीरलग्ने शिशतनये भृगुजे च केंद्रयाते।
भविरपुसहजोपगैश्च शेषैरिमतिमहायुरनुक्रमाद िवना स्यात।।७.१३।।

If Jupiter conjoined with Moon is in Cancer ascendant, Venus and


Mercury are in Kendra’s and remaining planets (Sun, Mars, Saturn) are
in 11th 6th or 3rd house then that person’s longevity is not bound by
mathematical methods but he has a very long life.

notebook, but let me leave it for some other article.

Combinations continued

लग्नं मूधोर्दयं चेच्छुभपितिनिहतं वीिक्षतं चािखलानां


दीघार्युष्यप्रदं स्यािन्नधनमिप तथैवान्यभावा िविचन्त्याः।
रंध्रेशो लग्नपो वा यिद बलसिहतौ चानयोवार्िधमैत्री
चारुढ़श्चोध्वर्वक्त्रः समयजलसमृद्धः स मूधोर्दयाख्यः।।९.२४।।
द्रेक्काणाः फिनभूषणा मृितकराः कोलाभ गृधाननाः
सक्रूरा यिद शीतगौ िनधनगे हीनस्य च व्यािधना।
रंध्रे शीतकरो भवेन्मृितकरः पृष्ठोदयो लग्नगः
पापाः केंद्रमृितिस्थताश्च मृितदा रोगािदर् तानां नृणाम।।९.२५।।

If Lagna is having a head-rising sign (Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Aquarius


and Pisces) conjoined by a benefic and all other planets aspect it, it is a
combination for long life. Other houses should also be judged in the
same way

What it is meant by the same way, the house having a benefic and
aspected by all other planets (or any other planet), good result of that
comes because of a benefic placement.

If Lagna and eighth lord are strong or they are extremely friendly (using
five-fold friendship), and Arudha Rashi is upper-faced and at the time
there is high tide and that is (Lagna under consideration is) a head-
rising sign then it indicates longevity.

Signs in 12th, 4th or 8th from Sun are upwards facing, 1st, 5th and 9th
from Sun are downwards facing, 2nd, 6th and 10th from Sun are looking
in the straight direction and signs in 3rd, 7th and 11th from Sun are
looking from backwards facing.

If in Lagna there is Sarpa, Kolasya or Griddha Drekkana with malefics


(situated therein) and Moon is in the eighth house then a person free
from the disease will also die. If Moon is in the eighth house and Lagna
is a hind-rising sign and malefics are in Kendra or the eighth house then
it gives death to humans (questioner).

Sarpa Dreekana is last and middle of Cancer, first and middle of Scorpio
and last of Pisces. Kolasya Drekkana is first of cancer. Pakshi Drekkana
is the middle of Libra and Gemini and the first of Aquarius and Leo.
According to some other Acharya’s first drekkana of Leo is Pakshi (bird)
and first, of Scorpio, middle of Cancer and last of Pisces is Sarpa (snake)
Drekkana, the first opinion is frequently used.

Arudha and Lagna both of them are important

तत्कालोघद्रािशःप्रष्ट्रारूढ़श्चलग्नशब्दोक्तौ।
कृष्णीयािदषु किथतं ताभ्यां द्वाभ्यां फलं िह वाच्यिमित।।९.२६।।
भूिमष्ठं िस्थरचक्रं चरित तथाकाश एव चरचक्रम।

उदयारूढ़क्षाभ्यां शुभाशुभं प्रष्टुरािदशेद्यद्वत।
दैविवदो व्ययभाभ्यां तदायभाभ्यां तथैव दू तस्य।।९.२८।।
अथोदयारूढ़भयोद्धर् योस्तदा बलािन्वतादद्वादशभावजं फलं।
तथात्मिपत्रािदपदाथर्कारकैरिप ग्रहैरकर्मुखैमुखैिवर् मृश्यते।।९.२९।।
कृश्नीये तु तयोिवर् षयिवभाग उक्तः। तथा च तदुिक्तः।
प्रश्नः खलुदयारूढ़ प्राधान्येन िद्वधा मतः।
भास्करोदयवेलायां संचरत्यिप पृच्छके।।९.३०।।
पृच्छके िवद्यया युक्ते यात्रािदचरकमर्सु।
उदयेन फलं ब्रूयादेवमािदषु दैविवत।।९.३१।।
कमार्न्ते च िदनान्ते च शियते पृच्छके िनिश।
प्रदेशे जन सम्पूणेर् मुष्टौ चान्तगृर्हस्य च।।९.३२।।
िवषयेस्थावराणािमत्यािदष्वारुढरािशना।
िचन्त्यमत्रोभयत्रािप स्वं स्वं छत्रं तदुच्यते।।९.३३।।

Currently rising Lagna and Arudha Rashi both of them are referred to as
Lagna in texts such as Krishneeyam, hence one should predict using
both these points (ascendant’s).
Sthira Chakra is placed on earth and Chara Chakra moving in the sky
both of them rotates and the answer to a question is to be answered
after considering both these Chakras.
As we say good and bad results to questioner from rising sign and
Arudha sign in the same way we should tell the results (of/to)
astrologer from 12th house and result (of/to) the one who comes with
the question from 11th house.
The stronger between rising sign and Arudha is used to predict the
results of twelve houses and based on the significations of planets
(such as Sun for father), results for them (father etc.) is told.
Based on the dominance of Lagna or Arudha, Prashna is of two types.
At the time of sunrise due to the importance of time, and because
Arudha is difficult to be known Lagna (rising) gets predominance, when
questioner comes (to astrologer) or when the questioner is well known
(Well versed in astrology) or when the astrologer is walking or travelling
in such cases predictions should be made from rising ascendant.
When the work is already done by the questioner (and when the
question is about its results), or when the question is asked after day
end (sunset), or when the questioner has slept, in the night, or when
the place where the question is asked is crowded (means where there
are many people lined up to ask questions), or it is a silent question
(where the astrologer have to guess what is in the questioner’s mind) or
in case of Mushti Prashna (questions related to what is in my hands), or
when the questioner is inside his home or when the question is asked
about a non-living thing, in all such cases predictions should be made
from Arudha Sign
Both the Chatra (of the Lagna and Arudha) is also to be analysed.

Aries and Taurus in the eastern direction, Gemini in the south-east,
Cancer and Leo in the south, Virgo in the south-west, Libra and Scorpio
in the west, Sagittarius in the north-west, Capricorn and Aquarius in the
north, and Pisces is situated in the north-east. Based on the place where
the astrologer sits, as per the east etc. directions, the zodiac is to be
imagined (as told above), based on the place/direction where the
questioner sits, because the questioner is sitting there it is called Arudha
(literally meaning to ride on something), an astrologer based on the
direction where the questioner sits, should properly decide Arudha and
then should consider/judge questions therefrom (from that Rashi in the
Prashna chart).
If this is not possible, (for example where the seating placement is fixed
for the querent), in such cases the astrologer should make a diagram
consisting of twelve signs and he (the astrologer) should worship that
diagram, then the questioner should be told to put a gold coin anywhere
in the diagram (Chakra) and then based on the sign he (the questioner)
keeps the gold coin, the Arudha which is known as Svarna Arudha should
be considered.

Some other methods of Arudha are – The gold coin to be placed by a


child, generally a virgin girl child symbolic of the goddess, based on the
number of betel-leaves the questioners have come with, there is a
separate method of Prashna using this system alone, to be dealt in
another article and based on the Akshara Arudha (used in this case).

The house indicating astrologer is the twelfth house, many astrologers


are confused as to which house is to be taken for an astrologer, some
take 8th some 9th some 11th but here Prashna Marga is very clear that
the twelfth house should be considered as the house for the astrologer if
the twelfth house has malefic or other bad indications then the bad
effects of the Prashna also comes to the astrologer and the astrologer
should also perform remedies for doing/attending the Prashna.

Some people opine that when someone else asks a question for someone
else, we should rotate the chart from that house. For example, if
someone asked a question for their mother then the Prashna chart is to
be seen from the fourth house. According to me, this approach is not
right, the Lagna has all indications and under no circumstances, it can
be substituted by any other house. The Prashna is always indicative of
the person on/to whom the Prashna is asked for, like in this case the
Prashna is for mother by daughter but we don’t rotate the house, we
judge it using normal methods only. Even in the Nakshatra Sutra case, I
took Nakshatra of the daughter instead of the mother as the Prashna is
always focused on the person, despite the fact that the Prashna is
asked by the native himself or not. Here in this Shloka it is very clearly
told that the person who came with the question (if there is any such
person) should be seen from the eleventh house in the Prashna.

Some people are of the opinion that Prashna (or for that matter any
chart) should not be seen in the night as sages have prohibited that,
there is no such case. In olden times the ascendant was decided based on
“Chhaya Yantra” an instrument which used to tell ascendant degree
based on the reflection made by sun’s rays and because it was not
possible to be used in the night, owing to the greater risk of calculating
wrong Lagna or wrong Lagna degrees, it was prohibited to see charts
during night time, however, this Shloka is very clear that charts can be
seen through night time also. Such views should be rejected and any
knowledge branch such as astrology should be handled with a scientific
approach only and not based on dogmas or pre-conceived notions.

Chatra Rashi.

मातर्ण्डे वृषतोिलतश्च चतुरो राशीनतोन्यांस्तथा


प्राप्तेअजो िमथुनं क्रमेण च वृषो िवथ्योथु यावान भवेत।
आरुढादुदयोथवीिथभवनात्तावदभवेच्छत्रभं
ग्राह्यं स्यातिस्थरचक्र एतदृढे लग्नांशकश्छादकः।।९.३४।।

As per Sun’s occupation of signs from Taurus to Leo, Scorpio to


Aquarius and other four signs, Veethi Rashi will be respectively Aries,
Gemini and Taurus. Decide this Veethi Rashi and then count how many
houses Lagna is removed from Arudha, the same number of the house
from Veethi Rashi will be the Chatra Rashi. The Chatra Rashi of Lagna
(rising) is Lagna Navansha.

In the Prashna chart, Lagna and Arudha is the same Cancer, Sun is in
Pisces giving Veethi Rashi to Aries, from Arudha to Lagna the count is
one as they are in same signs, so the Chatra is also one Rashi from
Veethi which means the Veethi Rashi Aries itself is the Chatra Rashi.
The Chatra for Lagna is Leo because Lagna degree is 5 which gives
second Navansha (Leo).
Five tools of longevity determination.

एतेषु दोषरिहतेषु गुणािन्वतेषु


नीरोगताद्यिखलसौख्यमनल्पमायुः।
दोषािन्वतेष.ु िवगुणेषु मृितश्च रोग
दैघ्यार्िदकंतु गुणदोषिविमिश्रतेषु।।९.३६।।
तत्कालजैिनर् िमत्तैःप्रष्टारूढोदयेन्दुगुिलकाघैः।
आयुः प्रथमं िचं त्यं स्वस्थातुरिवषयभेदमवगम्य।।९.२।।

These Lagna etc five elements if free of any blemishes and are with
many virtues then it gives freedom from disease and all kinds of
happiness and long-life, but if these five elements/factors are
blemished and without any virtues then one will face death and if it
having both blemishes and virtues then the along-lasting disease is
there.

The five elements/factors are omens at the time of Prashna, Arudha,


Lagna, Moon and Gulika, these are to be used to see disease-related
questions or in any type of Prashna first, the longevity of the
questioner is to be assessed.

लग्नं देहोष्टमो जीवस्तयोरिधपयोबर्लम।


अन्योन्यदृिष्टयोगौ च दीघार्यु प्रष्टुरायुषे।।९.३७।।
लग्नािधपश्चजीवश्चशुक्रश्चारूढ़केंद्रगः।
एकैकोप्यायुषे प्रष्टुः िकमु द्वौ िकं पुनस्त्रयः।।९.३८।।
अन्योन्यकेंद्रगोष्वेषु दीघर्मायुिरतीतरे।।९.३९।।
सौम्यािस्त्रकोणधनकेंद्रभवाष्टमस्था
दीघार्युषे सहजषडभवगाश्च पापाः।
अन्यत्रगा मरणरोगकराश्च ते स्यु
मार्िन्दमृर्तौ मृितकरोिप गुणेषु सत्सु।।९.४०।।
सवेर्षामिप पापानां मांदीदोषप्रदािधकं।
सोितदोषकरो योगदृग्वगर्शतः शनेः।।९.४१।।
वराहिमिहरो होराषष्ठाध्यायेभ्यघत्त यान।
योगान मृित्तकरान सद्यस्तत्संवादो िविचन्त्यताम।।९.४२।।

Lagna indicates body and the eighth house indicates the soul, based on
their strength and their mutual aspect or conjunction the questioner
gets long life.
Lagna Lord, Jupiter or Venus anyone of them if in Kendra to Arudha Sign
(as in the case with the Prashna at hand) then it is good for the
longevity of the questioner if two or three of them is in Kendra then
what to say (the questioner/person will surely have a long life).
Benefics in Trines, 2nd house, Kendra, 11th house and in 8th house and
malefics in 3rd house, 6th house and 11th house give long-life. If
benefics and malefics exchange places (benefics in 3-6-11 houses and
malefics in 1-5-9-2-11-8-4-7-10) then it gives death or disease. If Mandi
is in the eight houses then even if it has virtues it will give death.
In all malefics Mandi is the most dreaded, if he (Mandi) is under
conjoined or aspected by Saturn or in Saturn’s Varga’s then it becomes
even more deadly.
Varahamihira in the sixth chapter of his Hora Shastra (Brihat Jataka)
have told combinations that give instant death, those Yoga’s should
also be considered.

Once again the importance of Varahamihira and his work will deal with it
in a separate article.

Important Advice.

ग्रहचारदशाप्रश्नफलसंवादसंभवे।
सत्येव फलमादेश्यं शुभाशुभमसंशयम।।९.४३।।
इत्येतया तु शास्त्रेकृत्या प्रश्नजातकयोिरह।
संवादिश्चन्त्य इत्यायुिचं न्त्यते जातकेन च।।९.४४।।
पूवर् कमर्फलं भोक्तुं जन्तोयर्िदह जीवनम।
आयुस्तत्कमर्शक्त्यास्य दीघर्मध्यात्मिदकम।।९.४५।।
अवश्यमनुभोक्तव्यं यित्कंिचत फलमिस्त चेत।
येनकेनािप योगेन नाभुक्त्वायं िम्रयेत तत।।९.४६।।

When results according to Transit, Dasha and Prashna meets, only then
one should say good and bad results with confidence. Based on this
advice of Shastra (knowledge branch), after looking at both Prashna
and birth charts, longevity (primarily) is to be decided based on birth-
chart.
To undergo the results of Good and Bad karma done in many previous
lives the time span that is allotted in this world is known as longevity.
Of human’s this longevity based on his Prarabdha Karma (Karma to be
suffered in this life generally seen from birth-chart), is divided into
long-middle-short etc.
The effects of the Karma done in previous lives is certainly to be
suffered, no one can die without undergoing the Karma’s (which is fixed
to be suffered in this life).
Factors increasing longevity.

अथ केचन िलख्यन्तेत्रायुदैर्घ्यर्करा गुणाः।


बलवत्वं िवलग्नेन्द्वोः शुभयोगः शुभेक्षणम।।९.६२।।
केंद्रित्रकोणरंध्राथेर्ष्वनयोःशुभसंिस्थितः।
ित्रषडायेष्वसद्वासो िवशेषेण गुरुदयः।।९.६३।।
गुरुचन्द्रमसोयोर्गःकेंद्रलग्नपतेःिस्थितः।
जनमेशसंिस्थितश्चात्र बलवत्त्वं तयोद्वर् योः।।९.६४।।
अनयोरायसंस्थानमायुदैर्घ्यर्करा गुणाः।।९.६५।।

Strength of Moon or ascendant, lord of ascendant or Moon sign being


conjoined with benefics, ascendant and Moon aspected by benefics,
their placement in Kendra – Kona – 8th and 2nd house, benefic planets
placed in Kendra – Kona – 8th and 2nd house, malefics in 3rd – 6th and
11th house, Jupiter placed in ascendant, Jupiter and Moon conjunction
(in the ascendant), Lagna lord is placed in Kendra, Moon Sign lord being
placed in Kendra, Lagna lord and Moon sign lord being strong or Lagna
lord and Moon sign lord being placed in 11th house. These factors
increase longevity (very specifically in birth charts).

Factors decreasing longevity.

आयुषोल्पत्वदा दोषा िविलख्यन्तेथ केचन।


बलहािनिनवीर्लग्नेन्द्वोः पापदृिष्टसमन्वयौ।।९.६६।।
लग्नजन्मेशयोमौर्ढ्यंिस्थितश्चािरव्याष्टमे।
अनयोरिप दौबर्ल्यम पिरवेषोपरागयोः।।९.६७।।
संध्यायां िदक्प्रदाहािद दुिनर् िमत्तेषु वा जिनः।
राशीनां मृत्युभागेषु सिन्धष्विप तथा जिनः।।९.६८।।
पीनं धनं खरः क्रूरो मंत्ररत्न वनं िगरौ।
िदव्यनारी वरा िनत्यं मृत्युभागा अजािदषु।।९.६९।।
मृत्युभागस्थचंद्रस्य िस्थितः केन्द्रेशु वाष्टमे।
केन्द्रायुमृत्युभागस्थिवधोश्चासत्समन्वयः।।९.७०।।
चंद्रो रम्यो लयो िमत्रे भूिरकायर्ं िचरं भयं।

िनणीर्ते मरणेस्य रोगसमयौ वाच्यावथो रोिगणाम।
िनणीर्तं यिद जीिवतं तु शमनारम्भािदकं वा रुजां
सिन्दग्घं यिद तदद्वयं तदुिचतं ब्रुयात्सुघीलर्क्षणम।।९.७५।।

The ascendant and Moon being weak, they aspected by malefics, they
conjoined with malefics, Lagna lord and Moon sign lord being combust,
they being placed in 6-8-12 houses, they being weak, birth at the
junction of day and night, or sun or moon in halo or eclipse, or birth at a
time when inauspicious omens take place, being born in Mrityu Bhaga
degrees, lagna being in Mrityubhaga, birth in Gandanta signs, Moon in
Mrityubhaga degrees conjoined with malefics placed in Kendra or the
8th house, Moon in the 6th or 8th house aspected by malefics, benefics
placed in 6th and 8th house is aspected by retrograde malefics (See
here retrogression is taking lives), Malefics in Kendra – Kona or 8th
house. These combinations decrease longevity (especially in birth
charts).

If there are merits it gives long life, if there are blemishes it gives short-
life if both merits and blemishes are present then based on the
maximum number either of blemishes or merits one should tell
longevity.

Like this based on Prashna and Jataka (natal charts), one should decide
longevity and then based on death combinations disease and time of
death and based on long-life combinations one should predict the time
when one will be free of diseases. If both are mixed (yoga’s for death
and longevity both being present there) then one should predict results
based on what they feel is right (based on their discrimination).

Now, I am reproducing what I wrote to the client who asked the


question.

Hey XXX, was checking the Prashna!


The 11th and 4th lord Venus is in Masasunya Nakshatra which indicates
her lockdown in her home, but the good thing is that this Venus is in her
own Rashi, but in 8th Navansha in the house which is identical to the
10th house in Rashi chart.
Mercury, Jupiter and Saturn are in Balarsihta Nakshatras.
Anitya Nakshatra is Matanga which indicates growth in the family.
The question being asked in Visakha is a negative indication.
There are four bad Panchanga conditions at the time of Prashna and
only one good condition.
Lagna and Arudha both come in Cancer which indicates long life, which
is a good indication.
However, the Lagna Sutra (Arudha and Lagna both being in the same
sign) indicates that there aren’t many dangers to her life. However,
counting from Prashna Lagna Nakshatra to your Moon Nakshatra the
number is 14 which when divided by 3 gives an answer of 2, which means
she will continue to have the symptoms. 10th from Arudha and Arudha
both of them are moon ruled sign which is another good condition for
longevity, it comes as Jiva Sutra, which again gives her longevity.
Trisphuta coming to Pisces indicates a bad time, not good for longevity
is what I mean to say, this is one bad factor, but in this bad factor also
there is some hope as the Navansha is 5th for Trisphuta which indicates
sustainment.
As per Trisphuta, it is also indicated that in some days she will start
having fever symptoms and will also have some problems in speaking
etc. It is indicated that her disease will continue for a long.
From a general analysis of longevity principles, it is indicated that she is
out of danger for now, but still, not much longevity is left there.
Now, taking into consideration specialised Prashan techniques,
longevity seems to be good.
Concluding it, it should be told that she is not suffering from COVID –
19, her diseases will continue for some time, say one year, but remain
tension free, her longevity is good. Nothing to worry about.

hi, shubham. thank you for this reading. she just texted me that her
rapid test for COVID is negative. but we r not out of the woods yet
because we still await the more accurate test for COVID and hopefully
her heart is still strong as she has heart disease. the results will come
out on Tuesday earliest or in a week. but this is a relief for now. and
hopefully, she keeps strong to overcome these health obstacles. thank
you once again and may you and all your dear ones be safe. – on 11th
