Difficulty, pain, straining while defecating o Bulking: faecal mass peristalsis
Hard stools, in small amounts o Osmotic (mannitol): retains fluid in
Sense of incomplete evacuation bowel
o Stimulating: stimulates intramural
plexus peristalsis
