Applying Yoga knowledge and techniques in our daily life:

Minimum 3000-4000words:
Q.1 What was your opinion of Yoga before joining TTC. Any changes
after the course?
I have been a semi-regular yoga practitioner since twentysomething. I
have always been drawn to the physical, spiritual, and mental aspects of
the yoga practice. I love the beauty within the movement and breath,
and how yoga makes the outside world melt away when I step onto my
mat. As I grew in my yoga practice, attend teacher training is a way to
learn more. When the class started, I quickly learned that practicing
yoga and teaching yoga are two completely different things. I had been
doing yoga for years but try to guide people into poses felt like trying to
speak different language. The training expanded both my educational
and spiritual understanding and connection to yoga and deepened my
practice considerable. I learn to be kind to myself and trust my abilities.
The teacher training course complete but the journey just began.

Q.2 Describe yogic knowledge that me help you at the body level.
Yoga class more than burn calories and tone muscles. It is a total mind-
body workout that combines strengthening and stretching poses with
deep breathing and meditation or relaxation. There are different forms
of yoga. Some are fast-paced and intense. Others are gentle and
relaxing. The intensity of your yoga workout depends on which form of
yoga you choose. Yoga poses stretch your muscles and increase your
range of motion with regular practice, they will improve your flexibility.
Yoga is not considered aerobic exercise, but it can be just as good as
aerobic exercise for improving health. It takes a lot of strength to hold
your body in a balanced pose. Regular practice will strengthen the
muscles of your arm, back, legs, and core. Although yoga will give you a
full-body workout, it will not put any impact on your joints. Yoga is a
great activity for your if your have diabetes, high blood pressure, or
heart disease. It gives your strength, flexibility, and mind-body
awareness. Of course, some postures may avoid.
Q.3 Can you identify any Klesha (Affliction/s) dominant in your
personality? How Yoga may help in its modification?
Life has always been a rich and wonderful journey, full of joy, sorrow,
and many other experiences. As life speeds up, we have less time to be
still and observe and more time becomes consumed by rushing and
distraction. Whilst we enjoy many benefits in our modern lifestyles,
there are also many downsides. Unfortunately, one the downsides of
this constant stimulation and distraction is the suffering which we
submit ourselves to. More than ever in our world of social media, travel,
and business. We ss an increase in the number of those, suffering in
mental illness, disconnection, and fear. The ancient wisdom of yogi
philosophy they proposed and how relevant this same advice is today.
This wisdom and guidance of the ancient sages it is possible that we can
apply these awareness’s ideal to our own lives and find a better path for
ourselves. The dvesha klesha dominant. Dvesha means aversion or
repulsion. Particularly avoidance of those things you do not want.
Avoiding anything situation or person that does not feel pleasant or
anything that poses a threat to my ego will cause me anxiety. Meaning
that I will do almost anything to get away from those things, physically
or mentally. Those difficult conversation situations or people I would
rather avoid. They are exactly the things I need to move forward in my
life. Aversion leads me to suffer by allowing the mind to formulate
negativity and fear. By facing these fears, I can move past this suffering.
Meditation is a wonderful tool that will help remove that suffering.
Learn how to observe objectively and not become involved. Seeing the
klesha appear and recognizing them for what they are will liberate the
practitioner from their control.
Q.4 How one can follow Yamas and Niyamas in his life?
Yamas and niyamas are the first two limbs of ashtanga yoga. Yamas
mean social rules and niyamas mean self-rules. Both are 5 in number.
Yamas are ahimsa, satya, asteya, brahmacharya and aparigraha.
Ahimsas means non-violence. This refers not only to physical violence,
but also to the violence of words or thoughts. Harsh speech or words
may wound others and is also a form of violence. Environment
protection and animal care also consider as non-violence. Satya means
truthfulness. Being true to own self. Asteya means non-stealing. Not
taking anything unlawfully include physical things and thoughts.
Brahmacharya mean right use of energy. By practicing brahmacharya, a
person’s entire energy is channelized and totally focused on whatever
work he has taken in life. If brahmacharya is not practiced, energy runs
way wine and the focus and progress is lost. Aparigraha means to keep
control over one’s needs. It is also described as absence of avarice or
non-appropriation of things that do not belong to one. It means non-
greedy. One should not be greedy to acquire more and more. On the
other hand, one should be satisfied with what they was and should be
willing to give away things which are not necessarily required.
Niyamas are shaucha, santosha, tapa, swadhyaya and
ishwaraPranidhana. Shaucha means clarity or purity. Not only physichl
or external or environment cleanses, but also internal. One’s mind
should be kept clean. Santosha means contentment. Being happy with
what you have. It does not mean you do not have ambitions to make
yourself or your situation better. It simply means that you will do your
duty and enjoy everyday of the journey without feeling discouraged
when faced with hardship and bad luck. Tapa means self-discipline. The
enthusiasm and thrill you feel while doing something you love is tapa.
Svadhyaya means self-study. Study oneself by practicing reflection.
Study of scriptures. Ishvarapranidhana means surrendering to God’s
will. There is a divine, benevolent essence in the university. We do out
best and left rest to God.
Q.5 Narrate some of your observations of your ego. Is it possible to
function without it?
The ego is the “I”. it is how you see yourself. It is the part of my mind
that identifies with traits, beliefs, and habits. Ego is an unconscious part
of mind. Ego is as very rigid identity. It created aa set of belief, patterns,
and ideas that most people label “personality”. Ego is very defensive
about one’s identity. Anything outside of confirmed thoughts, beliefs,
and behaviors will be rejected. Confliction opinions or concepts often
bring people to a place of anger because the ego feels the most out of
control when it is challenged. It feels like an attack on self. Technically.
It is because the ego creates the illusion that our opinions and beliefs
make you who we are. This led to a lot of insecurity and low self-worth.
In a fragile state, the ego works overtimes to defend us. The ego
overcompensates in the fragile state with strong emotional reactivity,
false confidence, black and white/rigid thinking, rejection of any idea
that conflicts with the ego beliefs and judgement of others. Ego work is
about returning to your true nature. Our lives have been functioning in
patterns that we have not consciously chosen. They were chosen for us.
Ego work is a new opportunity to choose. We are not looking to “kill”
the ego. The ego is our protector and has been a part of our psyche since
we were a small child to help us cope. We want to learn to accept our
ego as something separate from ourselves. We are the awareness. This
ability is uniquely human. We can think about our thoughts. We can
reflection our action. Ego is a guard. It constantly scanning the
environment for someone or something attempting to do harm.
Anything that conflicts with the ego’s perception becomes an enemy.
Without the guard we can decide how we feel, what we think and now
we choose to respond rather than having ego decide for us.
Q.6 Discuss Tension vs Relaxation. How will you cultivate relaxed
attitude towards life?
Tension and relaxation, we need them both. We must be both soft and
hard. Tension is condition of being held in a state between two or more
forces, which are acting in opposition to each other. Relaxation is the
act of relaxing or the state of being relaxed, the opposite of stress or
tension. We can cultivate relaxed attitude by practice yoga and
pranayama. We can write 10 positive point every day. We can do
reflection every night, practice pranayama I, IV, sheetali, Chandra
bhedana pranayama, nispandabhave and meditation also help.
Q.7 They say, “Be Positive” Why? What is the means to achieve
positivity?
When you be positive, you will feel better about life in general. We do
not feel positive and negative at the same time. So, the more positive
you are, the more positive feelings will come. You will feel more
peaceful, happier, and calm. Thinking positively will help you accomplish
dreams and goals and tasks would be easier to fulfill. Motivation is a
positive quality and a wonderful trail to have. It pushes you forward,
encourages your and helps you overcome obstacles. Your attitude and
the way you think have much to do with how you feel about yourself. If
you adopt a positive attitude and think positively, you will have a better
opinion of yourself. See what is positive and good in you. this will
automatically increase your self-esteem. Loving our self, being good to
yourself, and being happy, are expressions of thinking positively. This
attitude would also enhance your self-confidence, your courage, and
your inner strength. When you think positive, you are usually more
energetic and healthier than people who think negatively. The mind has
a strong effect of the body and on health. When your think positively
your immune system is healthier, and your body recuperates faster. We
can train our brain to become more positive. We can observe our
thought. Since we are creature of habits. We may notice that we have
the same negative thoughts creeping up in our mind once we know
there is negative thoughts, we can work on a solution to resolve the
problem. We can do self-reflection every day before bedtime. We can
write 10 positive points every day. We can surround ourselves with
positive people.
Q.8 Briefly explain your understanding of the terms “Attachment and
Detachment” with relevance to your life.

We attach to things, people, and time to maintain the source of our

happiness. We also attach to old habit-patterns or even suffering and
stress. We can attach or cling to external and to internal circumstances.
I might identity various things or people as the true source of happiness,
pleasure, and comfort finally I processed to consume the source until it
either changes or vanishes. For examples, I appreciate the idol because
of her features, her intelligent, beauty and funny. So, I want to listen to
her because I sees this thing as a cause of my comfort and my happiness.
Detachment arise upon thorough comprehension of suffering stress ant
its cause. Such as a alcohol abuser finally understand that alcohol leads
to his ruin he might detach from this habit. When we can see that we
alone are responsible for our wellbeing not things and people around us.
This is very empowering and uplifting. Through letting go we become
freer and more relaxed in many ways.

Q.9 What is faith? Can you share a personal experience of how it has
helped you in life?
If you have intense faith in something, you have total disinterest in
everything. Faith is what you believe. Faith is always a decision, based
on some evidence, resulting in some action. If you have faith in
someone is a choice to believe in someone says is true. All we operate
on a belief system. As we go through life, we are constantly being
presented with information which is evidence that we must evaluate
and judge. Whenever we choose to accept the evidence presented to us
as sufficient to accept as truth, then that belief is added to our belief
system. Unless and until we are presented with new evidence that
causes us to decide to believe differently about a subject, we keep the
same belief. Then as we go through life, we always act based on our
belief system. Sometimes we face situations in life where there is not
time to think. These actions are always governed by the beliefs we have
already determined. It is your belief that supports undergirds and
provides the basis for your hope or fear. The belief was a choice you
made. Then it becomes part of your belief system that provides the
basis for your hopes or your fears. A great way to implement my faith is
to rejoice stay positive in every situation can help me overcome
obstacles and difficult situations.
Q.10 In your opinion surrendering to the will of Lord is an attitude or a
religious matter? What is your logic behind the opinion?
When I first encounter this statement, I consider as a religious matter
because of the word ‘lord’. Since I do not have any religion. I do not
know whom to surrender. When there is another meaning discover:
there is and underlying idea that something bigger, more profound, and
pure exists other than us. This something else does not need to be the
figurative bearded man who sits in the sky whom we may associate with
Lord. We have the power to choose our action, but we do not have the
power to determine the results. That is out of our hands. It is an
understanding that everything works out in its own time. Doing my best
and that letting go of the result. Not having to live up to some image I
have of myself, and no longer needing to beat myself up for it. Relief
from feeling I always must struggle to get through life. A deep sense of
being guided and cared for by something greater. These gift of self-
surrender brig a sense of freedom from our self-imposed burdens. This
rich reward may be worth letting go of our attachment, control, and to
our limited sense of life.
Q.11 Explain the term “Awareness” and its importance. Any practice you
are convinced that can help you in increasing awareness?
Awareness is the ability to stand back and watch ones mental and
physical activity. Very few of us are aware. Most of the time, we have
so completely identified ourselves, with our body, mind, work, habits.
Awareness means the habit of paying attention to yourself. It means
looking for patterns in the way we tend to think about and perceive
what happens to, how we explain things to ourselves and make sense of
the world around us. It means understanding our own emotions and
moods. We observe and stay curious about our feelings. It means
paying attention to how we tent to act and be have in certain situations.
Awareness can increase by pay attention to what bothers you about
other people. Often the things that irritate us the most in other people
are reflection of some quality we dislike in ourselves. We can meditate
on our mind. Meditation is one of the best ways to learn more about
how your thoughts work. When you practice watching and observing our
thoughts without attaching to them or thinking about them. You begin
to realize that you are not your thoughts. We lack awareness because
we are thinking too much. We easily become lost in our thoughts,
assuming they are true or worth engaging with simply because our
minds decided to throw them at us. A regular mindfulness practice will
open our eyes to how the thinking mind works and how much more
there is to you than the mere content of your thoughts.

Q.12 What is importance of Meditation in life? Which technique you will

find effective the most?
Today we live in a fast-paced life with so many tasks, responsibilities,
stress, and unexplained fears. There is a significant disparity between
the thought process and the actions we tend to perform throughout the
day. But when your thoughts and actions are perfect match. There is no
conflict or the stress and are focused now. You are committed to living
in the present moment. Also, you tend to feel more joy and are less
fatigued. Meditation practice consists of no exercises of bodily
movements. An individual sits at a defined place and tries to focus the
energy within the body on object, sound, breath, etc. essentially,
meditation is a part of yoga, which is mostly performed after yoga asana
practice. After you have done yoga, the body is filled with vibrations and
to gain a stable condition on both mind and body level, mediations are
preferred post yoga asana sessions. Meditation enhances the self-
realization process and promotes over wellbeing but curtailing excessive
thinking and coordinating breath control. Meditation is not about
thinking, but instead, it is a deep state of unity with the object of
contemplation. Meditation is a constant practice of intense focus on a
object, sound, visualization, the breath or deep attention to increasing
awareness of the present moment this helps to reduce stress, anxiety
and promotes relaxation. Thus, the ability to find such kind of focus is
developed by doing meditation regularly. This requires effort and the
ability to focus the mind’s attention to one object is the foundation of
mediation. Yoga and meditation should be implemented together for
garnering holistic health benefits. There are several techniques taught. I
find the breath technique works the best for me. I feel calm and focus. I
feel charged. It keeps me focused on the present
Q.13 What is your concept of Total Health?
Total health is the health of a person included physical health, mental
health, and social health. According to the World Health Organization
total health is state of complete physical, mental and society well-being
and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. And it is the extent
to which an individual or group can realize aspirations and satisfy needs,
on the other hand to change or cope with the environment. The
components of total health including the physical health such as fitness,
illness, exercise, nutrition. Mental health free from stress, free from
disease, happiness, self-efficacy, and self-esteem. Also, have spiritual
health, financial health like having enough and sense of control. Have a
good contact with the society also a component of total health. Since it
can maintain sense of connection and the ability to engage in shared
activities.
Q.14 What is the difference between knowledge of Yoga and its hand on
Experience?
Yoga is a holistic and integral science of life dealing with physical,
mental, emotional, and spiritual health of the individual and society. It is
a way of life that provides a rare opportunity to leave the madness of
the world behind and attain inner peace. Yogic lifestyle, yogic diet, yogic

It was an advanced and comprehensive course. This course syllabus
covers in-depth study and practice of asana, pranayama and kriyas. And
the practice teaching, public speaking enhances the confidence to speak
to the crowd. Anatomy and physiology, yoga and Samkhya philosophy
provided a strong background of yoga. It deepens my overall
knowledge. I had good teachers and classmates. They were kind and
supportive. Yoga teacher training was the most rewarding experience I
have ever gone through. I learned so much more than I ever expected
on both about yoga and about myself. I connected with my practice and
with the beautiful humans in my training deeper than I could have ever
imagined and I cannot wait o see what the future holds.

Q.16 Do you feel NEW you?

Change is a constant. We are all changing all the time. Everyday is a
new me. I can feel better in my body, maybe some changes in my life.
But because these changes often take place over times, as part of subtle
and organic process. It can sometimes be hard to pinpoint exactly what
is about yoga that helps me to live a better life. The idea that yoga
changes me into someone better than the person than before is
something of misconception. It is more accurate to say that yoga helps
me remove the obstacles that obscure who I really am, that it helps me
come into a fuller expression of my true nature. It is not saying that we
transform into something we aspire to, but into our best self. Yoga
teach me how to make better decisions. Everything about practicing
yoga involves intention. And when I am mindful and deliberate in the
practice, I create the opportunity to become more mindful and
deliberate in my life. Yoga practices allow me a glimpse of the joyful and
free person you can be.
Q.17 Do you feel motivated to help LMYC in its mission to help Hong
Kong Society?
The society we live in often places us under great strain. Especially, after
the past seven months social movement. Many of us feel exhausted and
stress. Before that, HK already known as a high stress society. Work
under stress for long working hours become a regular practice. We lack
time for our friends and families. Our bodies often feel pain because of
the unnatural postures that we adopt, working on computer, driving car
and slouching on sofas. Our minds are filled with ever increased desires
as we are placed under pressure to have the latest products and to
compete with others. Most of HK people suffer from stomachache,
headache, insomnia. Most of us use eat to reduce stress. However, our
digestive systems are put under stress by the processed and unhealthy
foods of the modern diet that leave us craving yet more of these types
of food. So how, we use caffeine, alcohol, or medication to help to get
through the day. By practicing yoga, we can undo the damage rather
than just suppressing our symptoms. Yoga can help us get to the root
what cause our pain and help us make permanent changes to become
our optimal selves. Yoga is a holistic lifestyle. LMYC emphasize on “Yoga
beyond posture” yoga is not just on the mat but off the mat too. The
Workshop for busy executives gives the society a positive influence.

Skills are things I learn, that help me do other things. I might pick them
up through work, study, or activities I do in my spare time. If I can
recognize and talk about my skill, I will find it easier to work out what I
want to do. We already have lots of skills. Skills can be developed at
school, college, or university. we can build the through extra-curricular
activities, work experience, volunteering and internships can also help us
develop skills. Look back over my works, studies or leisure activities and
think about the tasks I completed in each. This help to identify the skills
had learned. I am good at deciding which tasks are a priority. I plan
make sure work gets done and good at avoiding distractions. I am a
team player, good at teamwork. I am good at cooperation with others. I
