Master Data
Are the foundation of any SAP
system.
It includes data about the entries
that are important to your business,
such as customers, vendors,
products, and employees.
Master data is typically stored in a
central repository and is used by all
applicaƟons in the SAP system.
Transactional Data
Are the data that is created when
you do something in SAP, such as
create a sales order, invoice a
customer, or pay a vendor.

Transactional data is typically


stored in a database and is used to
track the history of your business
transactions.
Configuration Data
Are the data that is used to
configure SAP, such as the “IMG”,
company code, language, and time
zone.

Configuration data is typically


stored in a central repository and
is used by all applications in the
SAP system. Think “tcode” - SPRO
Metadata
Are data about the data. It includes
information about the structure,
format, and meaning of data.

Metadata can be used to make data


more understandable and to automate
data processing tasks.

Process data
the data that is used to track the progress
of business processes. It includes
information about the steps that have been
completed, the tasks that are still pending,
and the resources that have been used.

Process data can be used to improve the


efficiency and effectiveness of business

Data

malicious attacks.
It includes information about user
