In nation-building, the efficiency and effectivity of its countrymen plays a vital role, as their actions and

attitudes shapes the nation. Effective citizenship can be cultivated, most especially, through prioritizing
the health of its citizens. If prioritizing health cannot be met by the government or the efforts may have
been fallen short, negative consequences may arise.

This notion is strengthened by the evaluation of the Philippine Healthcare System by Cordero, Jr. in
2022, which he stated that resource developments relies on a strong health workforce, a functional
health information system, and fair access to medical essentials. However, this has been neglected, with
the Healthcare workers being treated as commodities for vaccines (in the case of the pandemic),
prompting protests over government neglect and unpaid benefits. But then again, improvement should
be funded by joint commitment of the government and its citizens, fostering more compact and resilient
healthcare system.
