I stand before you today, representing the people of Japan, a nation deeply concerned by the escalating conflicts in eastern europe.
We stand in resolute solidarity with the people of Ukraine. Russia's unjustifiable
assault on Ukraine is an outright breach of both the Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances (1994) and the MINSK agreements. We demand that Russian troops immediately and unconditionally leave all of Ukrainian territory, including Crimea.
As advocates of democracy and peace, we are troubled by Russia's violations of the
Geneva Convention in the ongoing russo- ukraine war
The international community must:
1)Hold Russia accountable for its war crimes.
2)Support Ukraine's right to self-defense and territorial integrity. 3)Provide humanitarian assistance to the Ukrainian people displaced by the conflict. 4)Work towards a peaceful resolution based on respect for international law and Ukraine's sovereignty.
Japan, as a nation forever scarred by the horrors of war, is committed to playing a
constructive role in this collective endeavor. We stand ready to contribute our resources, expertise, and diplomatic efforts to building a more peaceful and just world. Thank you.
