Architecture
Plug In system: Whichever system is connected to GRC is
referred to as Plug In system
1) ECC (GRC <HR<MM<FIN<SD) --- > GRACPIERP & GRCPINW
2) ECC (MM&SD) ---- > GRCPINW

GRC Versions:
 VIRSA - 4.0, GRC 5.1, 5.2, 5.3,10,10.1,12.0
 VIRSA 4.0 ------> 1990s (ABAP)
 Release 5.1 = GRC 5.1 ----- > 2006 (ABAP+JAVA)
 Release V1000 = GRC 10 ----- > 2011 (ABAP - Webdynpro,
not compatible with HANA Database)
 Release V1100= GRC 10.1 ------ > 2013 (ABAP - Webdynpro,
HANA Compatible) SP22
 Release V1200= GRC 12.0 ------ > Oct 2018 (ABAP -
Webdynpro, Optional - Fiori as Front End, HANA as
Database) SP Level - 10
ECC 6.0 - EHP1 to 6 --- > Not HANA Compatible
ECC 6.0 EHP7, 8 - Compatible with HANA database
S/4 HANA - New version, Fiori as Front End (Optional), HANA
as Database (Mandatory)
LDAP – Light weight Directory Access Protocol
Software Components required in/should be there in GRC system as mentioned
below:

GRCFND_A -------- > AC+PC+RM

Software Components in the Plug in system (system connected to GRC)

S4HANA or ECC or Non HR system ------- > GRCPINW

SAP HR system --------- > GRCPIERP

NWBC ------ > Support and Little Configuration (Net weaver Business Client)

SPRO -------- > Configuration of GRC – Security, GRC and BASIS

NWBC – Net weaver Business Client - it is ABAP Web Dynpro Application – All users can use

SPRO – Only BASIS and Security/GRC – Major Configuration and Post Installation Steps

What is the difference between 10.1 and 12?


GRC 10 is not HANA DB compatible

GRC 10.1 is HANA Database compatible but HANA is not mandatory

GRC 10 & 10.1 Support is officially stopped by SAP from Jan 2021.

GRC 12.0 HANA database is not mandatory, Fiori as a Front end


Whats new in GRC 12 from Architecture point of view?
1) Cloud Application Integration
2) Fiori is embedded
3) HANA DB Connectivity
