Book Character Challenge!

Read at least one book that you have at home, or a book on Razkids.
Of course, you can read more than one book!

Pick one of the main characters from one of the books you read. Use clothes
and other materials from around your home and garden to make a costume, and
dress up as the character!

Write an autobiography of your character.

“Autobiography” means a story about someone’s life written by that person.

Your character autobiography should include basic facts about the character
(their name, age, where they live, friends and family) as well as more detailed
information specific to your character. Is your character brave, scared, curious,
loud, intelligent, clever, simple-minded, adventurous, naughty, or shy? Maybe your
character loves bunnies, maybe your character is a wizard, maybe your character
solves crimes!

Take a photo in your costume with at least 2 items that represent your
character.

Send your letter and photo to Laura/Alicia via WhatsApp by Friday evening.

Let’s look at some examples of character autobiographies with photos!

This girl read Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White. Here is her autobiography and photo:

Hi, my name is Wilbur. I am a 5 year old pig who lives on a farm in America. I have
a lot of animal friends that live on the farm with me! Some of my closest friends
are Ike the horse, Betsy and Bitsy the cows, and Samuel the sheep. I don’t live
with my mom, but Charlotte is like a mom to me. It might be hard to believe, but
Charlotte is spider. She’s like my spider-mom! She makes me feel loved and
special. I would say I am a brave pig. I am also cute, friendly, curious and clever.
Charlotte put special messages into her web and that made me famous!
This boy read The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland, by Lewis Carrol, here
is his autobiography and photo:
I am the White Rabbit. I am an adult and I live in Wonderland. I have a big,
fancy house and a beautiful garden. I usually am rushing around in a hurry,
acting nervously and anxiously. Keeping track of the time and not being late
is VERY important to me! I like to wear elegant, expensive clothes and my
famous white gloves.

This boy read Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, by J.K. Rowling.
Here is his autobiography and photo:
My name is Harry Potter and I am an 11 year old orphan. I learned on
my eleventh birthday that I am actually a wizard! I left to go to
Hogwart’s School to learn how to be a wizard and use magic. There, I
met my closest friends, Ron and Hermione. I wear glasses and have a
lightning bolt-shaped scar on my forehead. I am proud that I have a
strong sense of what is right and what is wrong, and I had to learn how
to make difficult decisions early on because my parents died. I do my
best to be kind to people and act humbly, but I like to compete and I will
stand up and fight when I need to.

*Optional* Enrichment: Make a FlipGrid video while you are dressed up as this character,
and tell us about what happened to you in the story you read!
