Brian’s sports
Brian’s sportsblog
blog

I’m a big fan of ice hockey. I’ve been watching matches since I was a child. I don’t play but I’ve always wanted
to try it. My favourite sport to do is snorkelling, so I was very excited when I found out about underwater
hockey. Underwater hockey started many years ago, and there is a club at the swimming pool near my house.
I became a member and I joined the a team last week. It was a thrilling experience!
We played at the bottom of the swimming pool, and there were six players on each team. We all wore flippers
and goggles but no snorkels. Each player carried a stick. Each team had three forwards who try to shoot the
puck in the other team’s goal. There were also two mid-fielders and one back on each team. They try to stop
the other team’s forwards. I was a forward. The two goals were at the ends of the pool, and they were three
metres wide. The match started with the puck in the middle of the pool and I swam and got it first. I passed it to
a player on my team, and he passed it back to me. I hit the puck with my stick, and it went in the goal. Then I
had to come up for air. You have to hold your breath when you are underwater. That’s the hardest part.
We played for 30 minutes. My team won with a score of 5 to 4, and I scored two goals! I was very tired after
the match, but I had so much fun. I really want to play again.
