Two cost items may be quantified easily: cost (in ordinary sense, such as fare when taking public transport) and travel time. CC=c4+dxT where GC ~ generalized cost € = cost in ordinary sense d—time value (P/min or Pfr) T ~ time incurred in making trip The Generalized Cost Considering several competing modes, the mode that will have the least generalized cost will be chosen. Supposing that there are two modes, with corresponding generalized costs: Mode 1: GC, =e, +d 7, Mode 2: GC,=c,+dx 7, Question 2 Solve for the generalized cost given the following Cost in ordinary sense = 12 pesos Time value = 30 pesos per hour Trip duration = 2 hours 72 (with margin: 0) Disaggregate Choice Model Example: A calibrated utility function for travel in a medium-sized city by car, bus, and light rail is U=a-0.02X1 ~ 0.05X2 Where X1 is the cost of travel in pesos and X2 is the travel time (min). Calculate the modal split for the given values: Mode A Xi Xz Car 0.3 30. 25 Bus 038 8 38 Light rail 15 30 If a parking fee of P30 per trip is imposed, what would be the split to the other two modes?
