Important
01. The programs scheduled here may be changed from time to time as per the
situation. You will be informed of such changes accordingly.

02. Sunday morning should not be used to implement the programs scheduled for
year 2023.

03. If the date of any of the above programs has to be changed due to any reason,
the School Activities Branch of the Ministry of Education should be informed
of the same.

04. Competitions conducted by School Sports Associations should be conducted

only on other dates excluding the dates mentioned in the School Calendar.

For Special Attention of Principals

1. The persons responsible for the activities of this School Calendar should make
notes in the progress column on completion of the tasks and should confirm
the same by obtaining signatures of the supervising officers.

2. During the third term, school education should be prioritized. Therefore, the
Annual Prize Giving, Commemorative Days (Eg:- Commerce, Science
….etc), annual educational trips/ field trips of your school should be organized
only during the first and the second terms.

3. Every Principal should be responsible for conducting all language and other
competitions (Sinhala, English, Tamil, Social science, Art, Dancing, Music,
Drama …) at school level on prescribed dates and to make arrangements for
the students to participate in Divisional and Zonal level competitions.

4. The arrangements should be made to issue the evaluation marks of the school
term tests to students before the school vacation.

5. An internal Board of Survey should be compulsorily conducted annually using

the own staff of the school.

6. Every school should conduct internal evaluations throughout the year in terms
of Circular No 2014/ 31 and according to the guidance “How Qualitative is
our School?”

7. All teachers, who are qualified to apply for “Guru Prathibha Prabha”; Annual
Felicitation of Teachers and Principals, should be informed of its regard.

8. All teachers should be notified to update and maintain the Teachers’ Record
Book, introduced by the Ministry of Education from year 2015.
