The Supreme Court on Monday (April 15) posted to August 2024 a batch of petitions
challenging the orders passed by the Allahabad High Court in relation to the Krishna
Janambhoomi dispute.
A bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta was hearing the special leave
petitions filed by the management committee of the Shahi Eidgah Mosque, Mathura
and the Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Waqf Board challenging a May 2023 order of the
Allahabad High Court transferring to itself (https://www.livelaw.in/high-
court/allahabad-high-court/allahabad-high-court-transfers-suits-pending-mathura-
court-krishna-janmabhoomi-shahi-idgah-dispute-229540) a clutch of suits over the
land dispute. Also listed before the bench was another SLP filed by the mosque
committee challenging the order passed by the Allahabad High Court in December
2023 (https://www.livelaw.in/top-stories/allahabad-high-court-krishna-janmabhumi-
dispute-plea-appoint-commission-inspect-shahi-idagh-mosque-244518), allowing the
appointment of a court commissioner to inspect the Shahi Idgah mosque.
