4. First-aid measures

As a general rule, in case of doubt or if symptoms persist, always call a doctor.

NEVER induce swallowing in an unconscious person.

Inhalation
Remove to fresh air and keep victim warm and at rest. If respiratory problems are
present, administer artificial respiration. If victim is unconscious, place him in the
recovery position and seek immediate medical advice.

Skin Contact
Immediately remove contaminated clothing. Wash off promptly and flush
contaminated skin with soap and water. Do NOT use solvents or thinners.

Eye Contact
Make sure to remove any contact lenses from the eyes before rinsing. Promptly wash
eyes with plenty of water while lifting the eyelids. Get medical attention immediately if
symptoms occur after washing.

Ingestion
Get immediate medical attention. Do NOT induce vomiting.

5. Fire fighting measures

Extinguishing Media
Use: alcohol resistant foams, carbon dioxide (CO2). Dry chemicals, sand, dolomite,
powdered talc etc. Do not use water if avoidable.

Unusual Fire & Explosion Hazards

Generation of massive, black and dense smoke. Formation of toxic gases.

6. Accidental release measures

Personal Precautions during Spill

Exclude sources of ignition and ventilate the area. Avoid contact with the skin. Avoid
inhaling vapors.

Precautions to Protect the Environment

Do no allow run-offs to enter drains or watercourses. Vapors are heavier than air and
may spread along floors. They may form explosive mixtures with air.

Spill Cleanup Methods

Cleanup personnel should use the appropriate respiratory and/or liquid contact
protection. Keep combustibles away from spilled material. Absorb spillage in
vermiculite, dry sand or diatomaceous earth and place into containers for disposal
according to local regulations (see section 13). Wash thoroughly after dealing with
spillage.

7. Handling and storage

Anyone with a history of skin sensitisation must on no account handle such products.

Handling
Handle in well-ventilated areas.

Prohibited equipment and procedures

Smoking, eating and drinking are prohibited in premises where the preparation is used.

Provide fume extraction at the emission source and also general ventilation of the
premises.
Avoid contact of product with the skin and eyes.

Storage
Keep the container tightly closed in a dry place. Store in a cool, dry and well ventilated
place, away from sources of heat and direct sunlight. Keep away from sources of
ignition, oxidizing agents and corrosive materials.

No specific ventilation requirements noted, but forced ventilation may still be required
if air contamination exceeds acceptable level.

Respirators
Where exposure cannot be adequately controlled by engineering measures (e.g. by
ventilation), suitable approved respirators should be worn.

Protective Gloves
If contact with the hands is unavoidable, wear impervious gloves; consult glove
suppliers for appropriate types.

Eye Protection
Use safety eyewear designed to protect against liquid splashes. No contact lenses
are allowed.

Skin Protection
Cotton and/or synthetic overalls are normally suitable. Grossly contaminated clothing
should be immediately removed and the affected skin areas thoroughly rinsed with
soap and water. Do not use solvents and thinners.

11. Toxicological information

No data is available regarding the preparation itself.

Exposure to fumes from solvents contained in the preparation beyond the exposure limits
stated may produce effects harmful to health, such as:
Irritation of mucous membrane and respiratory system, kidneys, liver and central
nervous system.
Symptoms produced will include headaches, numbness, dizziness, fatigue, muscular
asthenia and, in extreme cases, loss of consciousness.
Prolonged or repeated contact with the preparation may strip the skin of its natural oil and
thus cause non-allergic dermatitis on contact and absorption through the epidermis.
Splashes in the eyes may cause irritation and reversible damage.

Information pertaining to the health effects and toxicity of the “pure” form of the hazardous
components identified in section 2 is presented below. This information reflects the known
hazards associated with the component and may not reflect that of the purchased material due to
concentration (dilution) effects.
