In general, the urbanization in Viet Nam is slower than some regional countries.

In 1991, the figure for

vn was the lowest, at 19%, compare to 39%, 22%, 28% of phil, indo, thai, respectively. in 2014 the
percentage of Vietnam’s urban population increased by 19 %, in contrast with 30 % for Indonesia

Im going to talk specifically abt the biggest cities in vn, hn and hcm. Today, Ho Chi Minh City and
Ha Noi have the highest urban population with 7.8 million and 5.6 million people, respectively,
which account for one third of the total national population. in 2009, the percentage of
urbanization in hn was 30%, while that of hcm was higher by 25%. By 2014, the urban
population of both city have been increased significantly. As u can see, after 15 years, the
proportion of people living in urban of hn and hcm were at 40% and 65%, respectively. The
main reason of this fast development is due to the rapidly increasing of industrial zones
national universities, research facilities, and the international airports. Besides, Urban
population is also more likely to concentrate in large cities than small cities.
