Answer: Pre classical contributors set stages for developments by developing ideas forming the basis for
later management. The pre classical contributors established science of management the development of
management principles that could be applied across management situations

Answer: Scientific management is improving worker efficiency through the scientific study, Bureaucratic
management emphasize the need for the organization to operate in a rational manner rather than relying on
the arbitrary whims of owners and managers whereas Admiistrative management focuses on principles that
can be used by Managers to co-ordinate the internal activities of organizations.
3. Explain the development of the behavioral viewpoint.

Answer: The early concentration on internal mental states had limitations, which led
to the development of the behavioral approach in psychology and management. It
centers on observable actions and the elements of the surrounding environment
that affect them.
4. How could a set of flawed studies-the Hawthorns studies-help bring about the behavioral viewpoint of
management?
Answer: It helps the behavioral viewpoint of the management by establishing the impact on
social aspects of the job on productivity, it has been noted that human beings have needs which
if satisfied will promote productivity

Answer:
 Management Approach- is an approach aiming to increase decision effectiveness through
sophisticated mathematical models and statistical methods
 Operations Management is the function or field of expertise primarily responsible for managing
production and delivery of an organization products and services.

Answer: Contingency viewpoint is when leadership style is contingent upon various


situational factors instead of recommending one leadership approach. This viewpoint has
emerged in the organization in decision making since it has effective way to organize,
lead a company and to make decisions.
8. Explain the Theory Z approach to management.

Answer: Theory Z is management science approach which they aim to increase


managerial effectiveness while remaining compatible with norms/values of the society

Answer: Total Quality Management (TQR) aims at continually improving


product/services quality. It is an integral part of an organization, whereas Business
Process Re-engineering (BPR) provides different ways of seeking improvements by
focusing on reengineering how work is carried out which includes approaches as
combining tasks and eliminating steps
10. Explain the concepts of knowledge management and the learning organization.

Answer: Knowledge management and the learning organization are two approaches which
acknowledge the importance of knowledge as the asset truly unique to the organization.
