1. Purpose:
1.1. Nursing staff needs to maintain their competencies through continuing nursing education
in order to provide safe patient care and to keep pace with advances and innovations in
healthcare.
2. Scope:
2.1. Nursing Management group and nursing staff.
3. Responsibility:
3.1. All nursing staff
5. Process:
5.1. Nursing staff will be nominated for continuing education sessions according to area of
specialty and learning need identified by self, and /or by nursing management.
5.2. Nurse Instructors will ensure that nursing staff who are nominated for Cardio
Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), medication administration and any other required full
dayls training program are not scheduled for shift duties on that day.
5.3. Nursing staff will get 50oA time off for the trainings discussed in point # '5.2 HNA'{urse
Instructor will make sure to keep the record of their hours and will pay back due hours
to nursing staff within six weeks' time.
5.4. Short sessions of 2 to 3 hours will be treated as the part of on the job training.
5.5. If staff is given day off to attend continuing education program will be marked absent
in case he/she does not attend the program.
5.6. Staff that is sponsored to attend conferences, seminars or certification programs is
required to do presentation for other nursing staff on completion of her/his Program
within four weeks' time.
5.7. Registration fee and transport will be provided by the Institution to nursing staff for
continuing education program as and when applicable and as per the discretion of nurse
manager.
5.8. The sponsored staff if absent for the day, must pay back the registration fee and any
other cost incurred on him/her related to Continuing Education Program.
5.9. Sponsored staff will pay service bond as per agreement as per HR policy.
