Boat & Stream

Formula
Let the speed of a boat in still water be u km/hr and the speed of the stream be v km/hr, then
1. Downstream = Speed of the boat in the still water (u) + speed of the stream (v) or (u+v)
2. Upstream = Speed of the boat in the still water (u) – speed of the stream (v) or (u-v)
3. Speed of Boat in Still Water = (Downstream Speed + Upstream Speed) ÷2
4. Speed of Stream = (Downstream Speed – Upstream Speed) ÷ 2
