How to use the Trouble Shooting Tables:

Determine the symptom from the symptom index and select the correct troubleshooting table.
Follow the rows below that symptom starting with point “0.1” to determine what could be the cause of the symptom.
Use the “Check” field to find out if the first possible cause is true or false.
When the check is true follow up with the “action(s)“ field to resolve cause of this symptom.
When the check is not true follow up with the next possible cause (next row 0.2).
Continue this until the cause of the symptom is solved.
Note any special important instructions in the ‘’Remark’’ field.
For more clarification see sample tables.

3 Pressure Sensor Accuracy Check:

1 Prepare the HBP-1100 as outlined in point “2 Preparations”, (previous page).

2 Record all the readings of the following check on the Compliance Check Result
Form (section 12).
3 Adjust the pressure to 0 mmHg with the PA350 and let the pressure stabilise.
Observe and record the pressure readings on the HBP-1100 and the PA350.
4 Using the PA350 repeat this last step for the following pressures 0, 50, 100, 150,
200, 250, 280, 250, 200, 150, 100, 50 and 0 mmHg.
5 The pressure indication of the HBP-1100 must be within +/- 3 mmHg compared to
the PA350 indication. (Picture 3.1, Picture 3.2)

4 Air Leakage Check:

1 Prepare the HBP-1100 as outlined in point “2 Preparations”, (page 2).

2 Build up pressure to approximately 290 mmHg with PA350.
3 Let pressure stabilise at approximately 280 mmHg.
4 When air pressure of HBP-1100 has stabilised record the pressure value displayed
by the PA350. (Picture 4.1)
5 Start the stopwatch and after 1 minute record the air pressure displayed by the
PA350. (Picture 4.2)
6 Calculate the difference between the first value and the second value.
7 Release all air from the PA350 and disconnect HBP-1100 from the PA350.
8 Record the readings of the check on the Compliance Check Result Form (section
12).

NOTE 1: This procedure only checks air leakage to the pressure sensor. The air tubes
to the solenoid and pump assembly are electronically blocked.

NOTE 2: It is possible that the pressure displayed on the PA-350 can rise by as much
as 0.5 mmHg during this test. This is caused by the air cylinders in the PA-
350 warming up.

Specification air leakage HBP-1100: 6 mmHg/min or less.

6 Push the START / STOP button once and wait for the pump to start.
7 When the pump starts, hold down the START / STOP button until ~280 mmHg is
displayed.
8 Release the START / STOP button and the deflation will being.
9 Observe the display on the PA350: (Picture 5.1 & Picture 5.2)

PA-350-E – Select PA mode, “PA” will be displayed. The display will switch back
and forth between the pressure value and the deflation speed (for
example; ≡ 5.2).

PA350Z – will display the pressure and deflation speed simultaneously.

10 Record the readings of the check on the Compliance Check Result Form (section
12).

NOTE 1: The first and last readings are unstable; the measurement has to stabilise.
Record the values indicated on PA350 between 240 to 60 mmHg.

NOTE 2: PA-350-E, it is advisable to take pressure steps of 20 mmHg for this check.
Take only the even or uneven pressure values for recording.

Specification for the deflation speed outer limits are: 3.0 to 7.0 mmHg/sec

8 When the air pressure of the cuff is stabilised at approximately 280 mmHg record
the air pressure indicated on the PA350. (Picture 6.1 & Picture 6.2)
Note: If the pressure continues to drop the cuff is leaking, and should be replaced.
9 Start stopwatch; after 1 minute record the air pressure indicated on the PA350
again.
10 Calculate the difference between the first value and the second value.
11 Record the readings of the check on the Compliance Check Result Form (section

customers; one is to go to the OMRON Healthcare Europe website and download a copy
(English only), the other is to contact you. As part of your new product introduction
package each of you is sent a CD-ROM with one or more copies of the Instruction Manual,
most often in your local language(s). With some of the approximately 65 languages in our
region, a local language translation may be required. With the CD-ROM you can print an
Instruction Manual as required for your customer.
