EVALUATE THE SPEECH THAT MADE OBAMA PRESIDENT.
Barack Obama’s 2004 speech,which brought him into the limelight,was a powerful example of how a
single speech can transform a person’s career,business or [Link] not only filled his speech with
stories,he made the core of his speech a story and explained how it applied to the ideas he talked
[Link] allowed him to connect with the audience and convey his messages effectively.
Obama used rhetorical devices in his speech such as repetition,parallelism,polysyndeton and
enumeratio to make his speech easier to understand and listen.
Obama use imagery to [Link] example,instead of saying “my father was poor”,he said,”My
father was a foreign student,born and raised in a small village in [Link] grew up herding
goats,went to school in a tin-roof shack”.He used the power of images to emphasize the importance
of hope and the struggles faced by people in different parts of the [Link] of saying America
was the land of hope,Obama used images of slaves singing freedom songs,immigrants setting out for
distant shores and a young naval lieutenant patrolling the Mekong Delta.
Obama’s speech also contained [Link] regards to his thoughts on the young men and women
who enlisted in the military and returned injured,he expressed empathy in his [Link] promises to
improve the army and can empathise with their problems.
In conclusion,Obama’s use of rhetorical devices and imagery in his speech helped him make his
message more memorable and inspire millions of people with the strong message of hope and unity.
