Title: Anne of Avonlea Author: Lucy Maud Montgomery Introduction Anne taught children in Avonlea school instead of studying at Redmond College because Marilla’s health got worse. She met her neighbor Mr. Harrison, and his foul-mouthed parrot. Also, she met the twins, Davy and Dora. They were the children of Marilla's deceased third cousin. Davy was naughty and mischievous while Dora was calm and nice. At first, they would stay only a short time, but their uncle died, so they could stay with Marilla and Anne. Body She became friends with her pupil Paul Irving, who was an American boy whose imagination was amazing, and his father worked in America. And she met Lavender Lewis who was Paul’s father’s ex-fiance,and they married at the end of the story. She worked gladly thanks to childlike innocence, but she suffered when her resolution not to punish corporal punishment was frustrated. Anne became slightly maturing even though she sold Mr. Harrison's cow, after mistaking it for her own, accidentally rubbed red dye on her nose before meeting a famous author, and got stuck in a duck house roof while peeping into a pantry window. She organized the A.V.I.S. (Avonlea Village Improvement Society) together with Gilbert, Diana, and Fred Wright, and tried to change an old town hall, but it wasn’t successful. However neighbors supported it later. Mrs. Rachel Lynde's husband died and Mrs. Lynde moved in with Marilla at Green Gables, allowing Anne to go to college at last. She and Gilbert made plans to attend Redmond College in the Autumn. Conclusion (Lesson) We can know Anne’s growth through the delights and hardships when she was with her neighbors. So, I think that we can grow when we break through our barriers with our companions.
