Activity Guide - App Brainstorm

App Brainstorm
We’re going to use machine learning to address an issue in our community. This starts with identifying the problem we
want to solve, then designing the app that can solve that problem.

Issue Statement

People feel isolated around new people or in new places. This is an issue because it makes it harder to be
social and meet new people.

Machine Learning apps are great at helping to solve problems that require making a decision, providing a
recommendation, or making a prediction. Use the space below to brainstorm different apps that can use data that
could be used to address the issue above.

For each brainstorm idea, be sure to include:

● A title
● What the app does
● Who the ideal user of the app is

Pizza gathering

Decide When you arrive at the party, you turn in your phone. The
Pizza Party app utilizes a GPS to locate the best pizza
business in town and invites all pizza enthusiasts your age.

People who enjoy pizza and are lonely would be ideal users
of this app.
Virtual assistant:
The virtual assistant helps you find friends by asking
Recommend you about your interests and recommends places you
should go. For example, if you like cars this app will
recommend you to go to a car meeting spot.
An ideal user for this app is a person who loves cars
and is lonely.
 Club recommender.
Predict This app asks you a couple of questions and then
recommends a club you should join at school.

An ideal user for this app is a person who is lonely but

wants to join a club.
