1 Safety

1.1 General safety instructions


To ensure the safety of people and property, the safety instructions in this
document must be fully adhered to. They include:
● Symbol identifying the type of risk
● Severity
● Type and cause of the risk
● Consequences if the risk occurs
● Recommendations and prohibitions to avoid or reduce the risk

Hazard symbol
This symbol indicates risks of injury.
Instructions associated with this symbol to prevent any risk of injury or
death must be strictly adhered to at all times.

Other hazard symbols


Other symbols can be used to indicate specific risks. The following table shows a
few examples:

Severity
The potential severity is defined in the following table:

Severity Risk severity


DANGER ‘DANGER’ indicates a hazardous situation which, if not
avoided, will result in death or serious injury.
WARNING ‘WARNING’ indicates a hazardous situation which, if not
avoided, could result in death or serious injury.
CAUTION ‘CAUTION’ indicates a hazardous situation which, if not
avoided, could result in minor or moderate injury.

NOTICE ‘NOTICE’ identifies a possibly harmful situation or possible


damage to property that may result from non-observance.
‘NOTICE’ does not apply to situations which could lead to
injury.

1.2 Specific safety instructions

WARNING
Potential personal injury and/or property damage
Follow all safety instructions provided in this document.

Install the STT30-1 product in a 19ʺ rack.

● Do not unpack the product until installation.


● Install the product in a 19ʺ rack with a minimum ingress protection rating of
IP30.
● The following operations must be performed by a qualified professional:
– Connecting the 19ʺ rack to the mains power supply
– Mounting the batteries in the 19ʺ rack
– Mounting additional components
● Connect the 19ʺ rack to the ground.
● The product must be off power during installation. Disconnect the mains power
cable and the emergency power supply.

1.3 Standards
Siemens products are developed and manufactured in accordance with specific
applicable European and international safety standards. If additional national safety
standards or regulations related to the configuration, mounting, installation, use or
disposal of the product apply to the operating site, these standards or regulations
must be complied with in addition to the safety requirements provided in the
product documentation.

2.2 Installation room

NOTICE
Installation room
Install the product in a room that meets the requirements specified in the
NF S61-932 standard.

Make sure that the installation room meets the following requirements:
● The floor is flat, smooth and level.
● The temperature is stable and is not exposed to large variations.
● The room is not exposed to strong magnetic fields.
● The room is not exposed to corrosive gases or chemicals.
● Ensure that the controls and indicators are accessible and clearly visible. To do
this, mount the products in the rack, not lower than 700 mm and not higher
than 1,800 mm, as illustrated below.

Choosing where to install the rack

2.3 Choosing where to install the rack


● Check that the floor can bear the weight of the rack.
● Allow for space around the rack for ventilation and to provide easy access to
add, remove or maintain its components. Allow for a minimum distance of
600 mm between the back of the rack and the wall.
● Separate the high current cable runs from the low current cable runs.
● Ensure that the controls and indicators are accessible and clearly visible. To do
this, mount the products in the rack, not lower than 700 mm and not higher
than 1,800 mm, as illustrated below.

2.4 Installation

CAUTION
Tip over hazard
If the rack is delivered on a palette, it must be carried to the installation location
by two people.

1. Do not damage the rack sides when removing the cardboard.


2. Position the rack to the selected location for installation.
– If the rack has wheels, lock the brakes to hold the rack into place.
– If the rack has feet, adjust the height of the feet to level the rack.
3. Connect the rack to the ground.

Preparation

3 Mounting the MGB30 module

3.1 Preparation
Tools
Use the following tooling:
● Phillips screwdriver
● 4x M6x16 screws
● 4x caps for M6x16 screws

Height 266 mm (6U)

Width 483 mm (19ʺ)

3.2 Mounting

CAUTION
Tip over hazard
To prevent the rack from tipping over and to avoid potential injuries, it is
recommended to have the module mounted in the rack by two people.

1. Make sure that the location chosen to mount the product in the rack is large
enough (6U).
2. On the product, measure the distance between the holes for the mounting
screws.

3. On the rack, insert the 4 clip nuts in the openings of the vertical rails of the rack
(use the distance measured on the product).
4. Place the product in the rack, aligning the screw holes with the clip nuts on the
rack.
5. Insert a cap on each M6x16 screw.

6. Insert two screws in the holes on the hinge side of the product.
7. Tighten the screws to the stop.
8. Connect the cables.
9. Insert the two remaining screws in the holes on the opposite side of the
product.
10. Tighten the screws to the stop.

4 Mounting the STTM2002-F2 module

4.1 Preparation
Tools
Use the following tooling:
● Phillips screwdriver
● 4x M6x16 screws
● 4x caps for M6x16 screws

Dimensions
Height 133 mm (3U)

Width 483 mm (19ʺ)

4.2 Mounting

CAUTION
Tip over hazard
To prevent the rack from tipping over and to avoid potential injuries, it is
recommended to have the module mounted in the rack by two people.

1. Make sure that the location chosen to mount the product on the rack is large
enough (3U).
2. On the product, measure the distance between the holes for the mounting
screws.

3. On the rack, insert the 4 clip nuts in the openings of the vertical rails of the rack
(use the distance measured on the product).
4. Place the product in the rack by aligning the screw holes with the clip nuts on
the rack.
5. Insert a cap on each M6x16 screw.

6. Insert two screws in the holes on the hinge side of the product, through to the
clip nuts on the rail.
7. Tighten the screws to the stop.
8. Connect the cables.
9. Insert the two remaining screws in the holes on the opposite side of the
product, through to the clip nuts on the rack.
10. Tighten the screws to the stop.
