Greetings Madam Jessica Duncan,

Today I have brought to you a problem that I would like to resolve before March 11th. In
this letter I will be explaining the issue as well as my perspective on how to establish a solution
to this complication. I hope that we can reach an agreement to this difficult situation without too
much hassle.

First I would like to address the problem. This misunderstanding begins with a boy
known as Samuel Zheng. It was a Monday afternoon at 12:43 on March 4. This individual did
not eat lunch and was hungry. He visited the Graduation Fund Store who sells food items to
those who want or people who might not have eaten lunch. Mr. Zheng was ordering a 100g
candy bag at this store. A 100g candy bag costs $2. As the store served his order, a young man
known as Mr. Caleb Chai had stolen the candy bag and ran. Mr. Zheng was not paying attention
to this incident because he was rummaging in his bag for the extra dollar that he needed to buy
this product. As Mr. Chai had taken the product, but Mr. Zheng did not receive it, therefore
demanding a refund. The Graduation Fund Store refused to pay him explaining that whether Mr.
Zheng got it or not it was still an item in the Graduation Fund Store and needed to be paid for.
Mr. Zheng opposed this idea countering that he had not received the product, therefore should
not have to pay. In the end this situation was brought to the attention of you. Hearing from Mr.
Zheng, the Graduation Fund Council apologized to Mr. Zheng. Mr. Zheng was obviously irritated
by this situation, therefore did not accept the apology with kind regards. According to Mr. Zheng,
because of this response, he has been suspended from going to Moody park, New West
Minster, British columbia. This is the problem that I have brought upon you today. Mr. Zheng has
been disallowed to attend this field trip to this park because of this situation that he has not
deserved to be in.

Next I would like to explain Mr. Zheng's opinion which disagrees with this situation. I
would like to state that Mr. Zheng had a right to be mad and not accept the apology with
kindness. Mr. Zheng was unhappy because of the fact that the Graduation Fund Store stole
money and refused to give it back. “I don’t care how much they stole from me. 1 cent, 10 cents,
1 dollar. It doesn't matter. It is the fact that they stole from me and the fact that this is a wrong
thing to do”. -Samuel Zheng. As clearly stated, Mr. Zheng does not care about the amount that
has been stolen from him. He cares about the moral behind this situation and that they had
done something wrong. After seeing this perspective of the situation, I believe that it's fair to say
that he has a right to be mad. But this is not a reason to suspend him from a field trip to Moody
Park. Mr. Zheng believes that it was not his fault, and that he was wronged. “Be angry and do
not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil” (Eph.
4:26-27).
This bible verse clearly explained that it is okay to be mad. Mr. Zheng has also stated that he
would have to stay in school and clean the school property while everybody may go have fun
and spend a day off. I believe that this is unfair, for only Mr. Zheng to clean if he has to. The
Graduation Fund Store was much involved in this as much as Mr. Zheng was and both sides
should clean if they may. Mr. Zheng clearly thinks that it is not his fault that he was mad, and
shouldn't have to have a punishment for this action. Mr. Zheng has also stated that he made a
petition for him to join the field trip and it was taken away from him. He clearly said that this is
unfair, as he worked hard to get signatures and support from his fellow classmates.

Lastly, I would like to address my opinions on this topic. Mr. Zheng has made it clear that
he does not appreciate the response that you have given him. My view of this is that he is
completely right. As you may know, we are all sinners of God. No-one is perfect and acts perfect
all the time. Mr. Zheng isn't perfect and was still upset when the members of the Graduation
Fund Store approached him to apologize. I believe that Mr. Zheng has and had a right to be
mad. The bible states that sin is sin and Jesus still chose to die on the cross behalf of our sins.
Mr. Zheng is still a valuable child of God who has much potential lying deep within him. He is an
amazing person who sometimes can’t make wise choices on the spot. Mr. Zheng is deeply
valued by many people in this school and does not want him to miss out on this opportunity of
fellowship, and to grow in faith and community. Mr. Zheng is a man full of trust and faith in God
but as a sinner, can not make the right choices all the time to be perfect. Mr. Zheng could;ve
done better in this situation, but I also believe that at the same time his reaction was totally
appropriate for this situation. Mr. Zheng also states that “She(Mrs. Duncan) thinks I'm a threat to
the community”-Samuel Zheng. I believe that this statement is completely right. He is a friendly
person who almost runs most of the happiness and joy in the grade. He has many friends that
value him and believe in his potential to grow into the man he was called to be. Before I end my
thoughts I would like to leave you with one question. What would’ve Jesus done in this
situation? Would he forgive him and welcome him with open arms? Or would he turn his back
on him and reject him? What would Jesus think of your justice if he was with you? What would
he do in this situation? Please consider these questions with an open mind.

I hope that this letter has made it more clear for you and me. If you have any questions I
would love to talk to you in person about this matter. Thank you for reading this letter to the end
and hope that you will take my opinion into consideration to justify Mr. Zheng. Thank you for
reading and spending your valuable time with this personal letter that I've written. Hopefully we
can come to a peaceful conclusion. Thank you.

Sincerely Derick Takahara-Chow
