2. Are followed by infinitive without “to” (except Ought to and Have to)
3. Are followed by “not” in the negative
e.g. We can´t help you with your Project. Sorry!

4. They go before the subject in a question.

e.g May I ask your name?

NOTE:
When we want to express certainty and possibility about the past, that is when we are
speculating about past events, we use a modal verb + have + the past participle.
