Should People Have The Right To Own Gun

In recent years, there are lots of people have died because of shootings. According to the

statistical data of the CDC in 2021, 48.830 people died from gun-related injuries in the U.S. That

figure includes gun murders and gun suicides, along with three less common types of gun-related

deaths tracked by the CDC: those that were accidental, those that involved law enforcement, and

those whose circumstances could not be determined (Gramlich). The question is whether or not

people should have the right to own gun. I believe that people should not have the right to own a

gun for several reasons, such as increasing the number of violent crimes, leading to unintentional

killing, and raising many attacks.

The first reason is the rise in the number of violent crimes. The U.S. has the 28th-highest

rate of deaths from gun violence in the world: 4.31 deaths per 100,000 people in 2021. That rate

was also high in Canada, which had 0.57 deaths per 100,000 people (Aizenman). Most

countries that allow their citizens the right to own guns legally have a high rate of violent

crime and deaths.

Secondly, owning gun can lead to unintentional killing. People sometimes cannot

control themselves and do not think about the bad consequences before they shoot someone.

However, if nobody has the right to own gun, the bad situation in arguements is that people

will beat up or use knife. In fact, the injuries caused by knife or violent have chance to

rescue or easier to recover than the injuries caused by shooting.

Last but not least, many attacks will occur. Using gun or shooting exactly is difficult,

but using gun in order to threaten others is so easy. Therefore, lots of crimes had guns easily

go to markets or stores to steal what they want. Although those things happen frequently in

front of lots of witnesses, nobody stops the thief because of fear.

Opponents might say that guns are necessary for self-defense from threats and

foreign invaders. It takes a long time for the victims to or look for the help of others or the

police, which puts them more in danger. However, there are plenty of safer weapons in

order to protect victims, such as pepper spray or electric shock weapons. Those weapons are

safer for victims to use and can protect them in dangerous situations.

In conclusion, there are three main reasons why I believe that people should not have

the right to own a gun such as the rise in the number of violent crimes, resulting in

unintentional killing and increasing many attacks. Allowing citizens to own gun can raise

their safety; however, there are a lot of safer alternatives weapons to use than guns.

Additionally, countries owning gun legally should issue laws or punishments in order to

threaten crimes, avoiding the rise in crimes.
