The title may or may not make sense right away (and that’s OK), but by the
end of this book/course, I am confident that you’ll have more than a few
AH-HA moments. You see, I’ve been doing this for over twenty years, and
I’ve coached hundreds (if not thousands) of students. I understand where
people get stuck and I know what can help them break through their old,
limiting beliefs about entrepreneurship and what it means to be an online

A little more about me; I’ve been a public figure in the eBay, Amazon,
Software as a Service (SaaS), self-publishing, event hosting, and coaching
spaces for over 20 years. During that time, I’m proud to have been a part of
FIVE different million-dollar businesses.
I don’t say any of this to brag, flex, or show off. I share this to demonstrate
and give context and credibility to what I will teach you in this book/course.
I’m thankful to have a background in many different aspects of online
entrepreneurship because those experiences often overlap in ways that have
led to creative and innovative solutions that no one has done before.
Now the term “one million dollars” get thrown around a lot, especially in
the internet marketing and online entrepreneurship spaces. In a way, I think
that it frequently causes problems by setting the wrong expectations. CAN
YOU make a million dollars with the information and content in this
book/course? Yes, of course.
Remember that everyone who has made a million dollars had to make $100
first.
Then $1,000.
Then $10,000.
Then $100,000.
So, if you want to make a million dollars, but you’ve never made $100,000
online, or even just $10,000 online, then slow down and take each step on
the path to that million-dollar level. There are no shortcuts; you can’t just
jump to the top right away.
This book/course will talk a lot about self-publishing on Amazon with KDP.
There are a lot of websites, courses, books, videos, and general information
out there about how to “get published”. Getting published is one thing
(easy), but building a business and MAKING MONEY as an author and
internet marketer is entirely different.
So many people are taking out student loans and spending four years of their
life trying to learn how to do something that makes them money. Instead,
imagine if you spent FOUR YEARS learning about KDP or self-publishing
or internet marketing or arbitrage or FBA or Merch By Amazon. I firmly
believe that you can learn more about making money online in a few months
with this $250 book than you would with a degree that would cost you
$100,000 and four years of your life.
This book/course is designed and intended for you not only “get published”,
but to create a passive income asset that you own and control. After all, why
would you want to spend the time getting yourself published without
knowing any strategies to launch, market, get sales, and make money?
There are also books, courses, and videos out there that are JUST about
making money with self-publishing and KDP. How to “spot trends” and
what’s the “next hot niche” on KDP. I can understand why people may be
attracted to these types of courses. I mean, who doesn’t want to learn a new
way to make money online?
I’ve seen lots of people buy these courses and, while they may see a little
success, they almost always eventually quit and move on to something else.
Based on everything that I’ve learned over the years, it would be my
conclusion that people simply can’t stick with something that they don’t
actually enjoy for very long.
Sure, you can force yourself to research trends and create KDP books, but
you’re still going to see it as a J.O.B. and you’re not going to be excited to
wake up every morning and rush from the bed to your computer to format
another PDF about something that you just don’t care about.
What I will teach you in this book/course is much different. I want to help
you identify something that you actually enjoy doing and that you are
actually good at and that actually brings value to other people.
I want to help you realize that you have something of value to offer the
world, and that the world will gladly pay you for it (if it brings them value
and/or solves their problems).
When these pieces start to come together for you, you will be closer to the
saying, “If you find a job you LOVE, you’ll never work a day in your life.”
But this saying is flawed, because there are no jobs that you love so much
that you would still do them for free. Some people might disagree and say
that they love their jobs, but if they stopped getting paid, I’m guessing that it
wouldn’t take long before they stopped going to work.
But that’s where you can get with this book/course. Finding something that
you are already good at and finding a problem that you actually like to
solve. Then, packaging it up into a product that can help solve the same
problem for other people (and offering for sale for people to buy from you).
It will seem too good to be true, but it’s just as good as I’m describing it and
it’s 100% completely true.
It won’t seem like work, which can sometimes mess with your head a little
bit if you’ve historically viewed ‘work’ as trading your time for money
doing something that you wouldn’t necessarily do if you weren’t getting
paid for it.
I’ve thought about this part. A lot. And I think I have it figured out.
To really learn something new, you have to understand the WHY. WHY
something works. WHY something is important. WHY things are done a
certain way or in a specific order. WHY different aspects are more or less
important than others. If you don’t understand the WHY behind these
things, then you won’t believe that they are as important as people say that
they are.
WHAT and HOW are easy. It’s the WHY that will change your life. When
you don’t understand the WHY, then you won’t do it or won’t commit to
doing it. You may do it half-heartedly as a ‘task’ because it’s in the
book/course or because you think that you’re supposed to do it.
But when you truly learn something new, when it clicks in your brain, when
the lightbulb goes off, when the flip switches, then you have become a new
person with new understandings. These new understandings, these new
beliefs, will DRIVE your actions forward with confidence. And these new
actions, backed by your new beliefs, will lead to NEW RESULTS.
You may be reading this book/course because you’re not happy with the
current results in your life. Well, if you don’t change any of your beliefs,
then your actions are not going to change. And if you don’t change your
actions, then you’re not going to get any new results.
Some people try to force themselves to follow the actions and hope that they
get the new results, while not actually understanding the WHY that drives
the actions and then updating their beliefs. They think that can use
willpower alone to take actions that they don’t actually believe in. This
rarely (if ever) works, unless the WHY is truly understood and beliefs get
updated. Otherwise, this can leads to massive amounts of burnout and
disappointment because eventually they can’t do it anymore. They don’t
actually believe in or care about their actions, so they stop doing them (and
when they stop, their results stop).
To fix this, you have to update your beliefs and understanding. When you
take actions that lead to your desired results, stop and make sure that you
understand WHY these things are working. This way, your internal beliefs
will change, and these beliefs will then drive your actions with conviction,
instead of uncertainty.
When you start to understand WHY, then you are literally becoming a
different person. Going from someone who does NOT understand WHY
self-publishing is so powerful to becoming someone who DOES understand
WHY self-publishing is so powerful means that you have become a new
person with new understandings.

You will learn these things and MUCH MORE in this book and course.
I want to pose to you a question. Do you BELIEVE that you can make this
system work? That you can make money doing something that you actually
enjoy? That you are good at something that provides value to other people?
That you can create a course and write an entire book?
You have to ACTUALLY believe these things. If you don’t believe these
things, then your ACTIONS won’t change. And it’s your ACTIONS that
will lead to your RESULTS.
It all starts with your BELIEFS. In this book/course, you’ll learn about
many different ideas, methods, and tons of marketing strategies. Depending
on your experience level, many of the things that you will learn about in this
book may be completely new to you and you may have questions, concerns,
or even doubts that they will work as described (and that’s OK).
However, if you want to change your beliefs so that your actions and results
will follow, you have to COMMIT to trying the things laid out in this
book/course. You may not understand WHY different things work or WHY
we’re doing things in a certain order, but TRUST the system (it’s built upon
YEARS of experience and trial and error). As you take the actions presented
in this book, I’m confident that you’re going to start to see the results that
you’re looking for.
And seeing those results will go back to driving a change in your beliefs.
But it all starts with that first BELIEF, that belief that this system can
actually work.
So, if you BELIEVE that this system can work, that this system can help
you create a business and an income stream based on your own unique
talents, then COMMIT to that belief and take the actions needed to see the
results. Seeing those results is what will confirm your beliefs and literally
turn you into a NEW PERSON with NEW BELIEFS about life, business,
and providing value to other people.
IKIGAI
Take a look at this Venn diagram and think about the four sections and how
they apply to you.

What do you ACTUALLY love to do? What are you ACTUALLY good at?
What can you ACTUALLY get paid for? And, given those three things, is
that something that the world ACTUALLY needs?
I insert the word ACTUALLY to emphasize the point. When you find
something that overlaps all four of these things, you are said to have found
you ikigai.

I firmly believe the information contained in this book/course can honestly
get you to a place of ikigai. At the very least, you can find something that
fits the first three parts: something you LOVE, you’re GOOD AT, and that
you can GET PAID FOR. But is it something that the world ACTUALLY
needs? That’s a tough one, to be honest and I’m not here to be the judge of
that.
One example that I can give you that might hit the first three parts but not
the last would be the CEO or Chief Marketing Officer of a soft drink/soda
company. They may REALLY LIKE running large companies and/or
marketing their products. They may be REALLY GOOD at it, too. And, at
that level, they can GET PAID a lot of money.
But does the world really need more sugar water? Probably not.
Maybe those same executives could actually be happier and find their ikigai
if they used their skills doing something different that you could honestly
say that the world truly needs.
Just keep the ideas of ikigai in the back of your mind as you go through this
book/course. If you can get to 4/4 on the ikigai diagram, great! But 3/4 is
pretty good too and this book/course can get you there if you follow the
steps.
This is the actual way to find that ‘job that you love so that you’ll never
work a day in your life’. This happens when you have found a problem that
you like to solve and have packaged it up in way that other people with that
same problem can buy it from you. If you think this seems simple, that’s
because IT IS.
I have another Venn diagram for you to consider. I use this example
frequently when coaching people. Consider a Venn diagram with two
circles. One is filled with the things that you consider to be “work”, or
things that you don’t love to do, but you can do them to make money. The
other is filled with the things that you consider to be “fun”, or things that
you love to do, but that don’t make you any money when you do them.
There is an important distinction that many people make about this diagram.
Too many people make the mistake of seeing this diagram as UNIVERSAL,
meaning that the diagram would be a list of all of the things that NO ONE
likes to do (but they can do for money) and a list of all of the fun things that
EVERYONE likes to do (but they don’t make money).
The correct way to look at this diagram is to remember that these two lists
of things are PERSONAL TO YOU. Everyone has their own set of lists.
Something that you may consider to be FUN may not be fun to someone
else. And something that someone else consider to be WORK may actually
be fun to you.
So, if you could fill up these two lists with everything that you can think of,
you’re going to find that somethings are going to actually land on BOTH
sides and create the overlap in the Venn diagram.
Those are the things that you need to focus on. If you made this list (of the
things that you LOVE to do that ALSO can MAKE you money), you could
then put everything in order of ‘How much FUN’ and ‘How much
MONEY’.
Some things are going to be mostly fun with just a little bit of money. Some
will be more money but just a little bit of fun. Some things are going to hit a
sweet spot of being both incredibly fun and also give you the ability to make
enough money.
And when I say, ‘enough money’, I mean that you can build a full-time,
comfortable living around these things. If you set a criterion of ‘needs to
make a minimum of one million dollars per year’ as a requirement, then
you’re probably not going to find many things on this list.
But you can live VERY comfortably and be VERY happy making a lot
LESS than a million dollars per year. Remember, the TOP 1% of income
earners in the USA are making ~$400,000 and achieving $400,000 is A
LOT EASIER than achieving $1,000,000, especially if you’re first starting
out.
I commonly use ‘six-figures’ when asked how much money you can make
with the information contained in this book/course. That range is $100,000
all the way up to $999,999. There are a lot of numbers in between that I’m
guessing would make most people VERY HAPPY to be earning,
ESPECIALLY by doing something that you ACTUALLY ENJOY!
You can look at me as an example. If you can’t tell by now, I LOVE to talk
about and brainstorming business ideas and side hustles. I LOVE helping
people find their passions and helping them see how they can turn them into
a business that helps other people. I LOVE to read about and keep up with
new technology that people can use to make money.
And these things that I like/love/enjoy doing? They can bring VALUE to
other people. And some (or many) of these people will happily PAY ME to
help them and answer their questions. I really do feel as though I’ve found
that magic overlapping part of that Venn diagram.
One more thing about creating and sorting your own personal list from this
Venn diagram exercise. I’ve often seen people think that none of this will
work for them because they are not the “BEST IN THE WORLD” at
something. THIS IS AN EXCUSE. You can easily provide significant
VALUE to other people even when you are not the best in the world, and I’ll
prove it to you right now.
Take someone who really likes basketball, but they don’t put it on their list
because they are not LeBron James or Michael Jordan or because they
realize that they’ll never play in the NBA. Does that mean that they can’t
make significant money around the sport of Basketball? Of course not!
There are TONS of careers related to the sport of basketball. They could be
a coach, a trainer, a statistician, or any number of other careers that are
basketball-related. They could be a high school coach or host their own
basketball clinics. They could start a YouTube channel showing drills and
techniques for players to improve their skills. They could offer remote
coaching over Zoom or publish exercise and nutrition guides and journals.
The list goes on and on. Someone with a love of basketball can find tons of
ways to PROVIDE VALUE to other people using their knowledge and
skills. Using this book/course as a template, they can then turn that love of
basketball into a business that they actually enjoy doing.
But they can only do this if they have the right goals in mind. If their goal
was ‘NBA or bust’, then they’re probably going to be disappointed. But
what if their goal was simply to make a fulltime income doing something
that they love? This is 100% achievable using this book/course.
Take me as an example again. I’ll never sell more books than Stephen King,
but if I made that my goal, then I’m likely just going to disappointed AT
THE EXPENSE of living a VERY HAPPY life and making plenty of money
by writing books for MY market, not HIS market. Get it?
BE PATIENT
Some people who are reading this book/course will be starting from scratch
and some may already have some experience as a marketer, as an online
course creator, or as an author. Depending on your level of experience, the
process of identifying a topic and creating your book and course could take
longer than you expect.

One thing you’ll learn about my courses is that they are THOROUGH. I try

it to their business, and see some real success. If you have some experience

this entire book/course before taking any major steps. You don’t have to
read every word and watch every video before taking action, but the entire

broad range of topics.
For example, I think that it would be a useful strategy to at least have some
idea of the launch and marketing strategies in Section 3 before spending

marketing techniques that are discussed are things that you can do RIGHT

SECTION 1: WHAT IS A ‘COURSE AS A BOOK’?

The goal of this section is to explain the Course As A Book (CAAB)
model. By the end of this section, you’ll understand why this works, the
complete process, be able to choose a topic, and start working on your
own outline for your own Course As A Book.
They say that if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
And that is very often TRUE! But notice that it says PROBABLY, not
ALWAYS.
Yes, sometimes things are NOT “too good to be true”! And I feel with 100%
certainty that the information and content that you will learn in this
book/course will make you think, “This seems too good to be true!” It’s
NOT! It’s SO GOOD and it’s SO TRUE!
Well, later in this book/course, you’ll see some examples of courses that I
have published as books. And YES, this very book that you’re reading right
now is an online course that I have published as a book! I’ll admit that it
sounds a little bit weird or crazy, but this is the best way (in my opinion) to
teach others how they can create their own online courses and publish them
as books!
So, why would you want to create an online course and publish it on
Amazon as a book? That’s an easy question! Creating, uploading, and
selling your own online course is a great way to build an online business
around your expertise. Remember, this entire process is designed to lead you
to two very desirable results:
1: Helping People: You’re helping people learn more about your topic of
expertise, answering their questions, solving their problems, and increasing
their knowledge and skillset.
2: Getting Paid: You’ll be financially compensated and rewarded for your
knowledge and ability to create online course content that brings value and
utility to your customers.
Here’s one of the best parts about all of this: Everything that I teach is
completely TESTABLE. You can check every website, screenshot, and
video to see if they’re legit. And you can test everything without
spending a single dollar.
Another benefit is that to create your own course as a book, you don’t need
money; all you need is TIME.
Well, I’m going to assume that you’re at least a little familiar with online
courses. If not, an online course is simply a curated collection of
information or content designed to teach students something specific.
You’ve probably already purchased some kind of online course yourself.
There are TONS of online courses out there as well as websites that host
course content on all kinds of topics from all kinds of instructors.
The books can contain written content that is not available anywhere else as
well as access to video content through UNLISTED YouTube links or
password-protected Vimeo videos (or any other type of video hosting
services). You can also include unlisted links to downloadable assets
(through Google Drive or Dropbox) or supplemental materials such as PDF
study guides or templates. You can even include links and access to
exclusive, private online communities like Facebook Groups or Discord
servers.

But I’m getting ahead of myself. Where were we? Right, online courses and
course creators.
The people who create online courses are generally referred to as course
creators or instructors and they are no different than you or me. They’ve
simply recognized that they have some useful and valuable information that
other people would like to learn. They then spent their time outlining and
creating their course content and organizing it in a way that a new student
can learn about their topic by going through their course.
These courses are then offered for sale online. Some course creators sell
their courses directly on their own websites and some rely on course
websites like Udemy to host their course content. Personally, I’ve used
Udemy for many years and they have some great features for hosting and
promoting your courses.
One cool thing about having your own online courses available on websites
like Udemy is that you get to have your own instructor profile. With this
page, prospective students can learn a little bit more about who you are,
about the courses that you offer, as well your ratings and reviews from
people who have already purchased one (or more) of your courses. This
page can serve as SOCIAL PROOF that the content and information that
you share in your courses is valuable, useful, and worth the price of
admission!

So early, however, as about the close of the year 1763, four or five
years before the running and marking of Mason and Dixon’s line, Mr.
Rittenhouse was employed by the Penn family in making some
geographical arrangements, preparatory to the final establishment of
those boundaries. He was engaged to perform this service, by the
Rev. Mr. Richard Peters, (afterwards D. D. and rector of the united
churches of Christ-Church and St. Peters, in Philadelphia,) who then
officiated as the Governor’s provincial secretary; a gentleman of
learning and great worth; and one who, on various occasions,
manifested a friendship for Mr. Rittenhouse, as well the high opinion
he entertained of his abilities.
It appears that about this time, Mr. Rittenhouse’s friends had some
beneficial object in view for him; perhaps some official situation,
which they conceived to be adapted to the nature of his pursuits, and
such as might more permanently promote his interests. But whatever
that object may have been, he seems to have hesitated about it. If it
were a public appointment of a permanent kind, it would probably
have required his removal to the city,—a measure which he did not
contemplate at that time; and he might, besides, have been
disinclined to undertake any official duties, which would be likely to
occupy the greater part of his time. He expressed himself thus to Mr.
Barton, on the subject, in the letter just quoted:—“I am greatly
obliged to you, my dear brother, for pointing out any prospect of
advantage to me: I shall consider the matter you mention in your
last, and let you know my opinion. The objections you have so well
answered, are those which would most readily occur to me.
Considering the crazy state of my constitution, a retired life would
certainly suit me best. Since death, to use John Bunyan’s[102] phrase,
does usually knock at my door once a day, would it not be a folly for
me to take up the load of any public business?”
About the time that he projected his Orrery (which shall be duly
noticed in its place), it appears he had been speculating on the
doctrine of the compressibility of water. For in a letter to Mr. Barton,
dated from Philadelphia the 27th of March, 1767, he mentions,—that
he had not then met with any person, who had seen Mr.
Kinnersley’s[106] experiment on that theory; but that he understood it
was made with the air-pump, and conjectured it to have been similar
to the one made by a member of the Royal Society, related in
Martin’s Magazine: which is thus quoted in Mr. Rittenhouse’s letter:
“I took a glass ball of about an inch and 6/10 in diameter, which was
joined to a cylindrical tube of 4 inches and 2/10 in length, and in
diameter 1/100 of an inch; and by weighing the quantity of mercury
that exactly filled the ball, and also the quantity that filled the tube, I
found that the mercury in 23/100 of an inch of the tube was the
10000th part of that contained in the ball; and with the edge of a file,
I divided the tube accordingly. This having been done, I filled the ball
and part of the tube with water exhausted of air: Now, by placing this
ball and tube under the receiver of an air-pump, I could see the
degree of expansion of the water, answering to any degree of
rarefaction of the air; and by putting it into a glass receiver of a
condensing engine, I could see the degree of compression of the
water, answering to any degree of condensation of the air, &c.”—
Then adds. Mr. Rittenhouse—“Indeed I do not doubt the
compressibility of water, although the above experiment does not
much please me. If the particles of water were in actual contact, it
would be difficult to conceive how any body could much exceed it in
specific gravity; yet we find that gold does, more than eighteen
times.”
The other circumstance, just referred to, was the then approaching
Transit of Venus over the Sun’s disk; an event which was to take
place on the 3d day of June, 1769: And of Mr. Rittenhouse’s
participation in the arduous labours of the astronomical world, on
that very interesting occasion, the following narrative will furnish
some account.
