No. Labour-LabOPSCA/1/2024-2L/ 61-1 Whereas the General Election to Lok Sabha 2024
for which poll shall be held in Punjab and neighboring states, as per schedule detailed below,
as per letter No. Elec-2024/R-2461 dated 22-03-2024 of Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab and
whereas, it is considered necessary to provide opportunity to those workers who are working
in registered shops in the State of Punjab and are enrolled as voter in the State of Punjab,
Jammu & Kashmir (Udhampur PC), Rajasthan (Ganganagar PC), Haryana (Ambala, Kurukshetra
& Sirsa PCs), Himachal Pradesh (Kangra, Hamirpur & Shimla PCs) and Chandigarh (UT) to
exercise their franchise.

Therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by second proviso to sub-

section (1) of Section 10 of the Punjab Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1958
(Punjab Act No. 15 of 1958) and all other powers enabling him in this behalf, the Governor of
Punjab is pleased to exempt those workers who are working in the registered Punjab Shops
and Commercial Establishments situated in the State of Punjab and are enrolled as voter in the
State of
Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir (Udhampur PC), Rajasthan (Ganganagar PC), Haryana
(Ambala, Kurukshetra & Sirsa PCs), Himachal Pradesh (Kangra, Hamirpur & Shimla PCs) and
Chandigarh (UT), from the operations of provisions of sub-section 1 of section 10 of the said
act on the date of poll.
