Engineering
Engineering involves the application of the principles of science and mathematics to solve
real world problems and to innovate new products and processes across a wide range of
industries and applications.
The American Engineers' Council for Professional Development (ECPD) defined
"engineering" as: The creative application of scientific principles to design or develop
structures, machines, apparatus, or manufacturing processes, processing and producing or
works utilizing them singly or in combination; or to construct or operate the same with
full cognizance of their design; or to forecast their behavior under specific operating
conditions; all as respects an intended function, economics of operation and safety to life
and property.
Management
- Henri Fayol (1841–1925) stated: "to manage is to forecast and to plan, to organise,
to command, to co-ordinate and to control."
- Fredmund Malik (1944– ) defines management as "the transformation of resources
into utility"
- Ghislain Deslandes defines management as "a vulnerable force, under pressure to
achieve results and endowed with the triple power of constraint, imitation and
imagination, operating on subjective, interpersonal, institutional and environmental
levels"
- Peter Drucker (1909–2005) said that management is marketing and innovation.
Engineering Management
Engineering management is the application of the practice of management to the practice
of engineering. Engineering management is a career that brings together the technological
problem-solving ability of engineering and the organizational, administrative, legal and
planning abilities of management in order to oversee the operational performance of
complex engineering driven enterprises.

Engineering managers
Engineering managers design, plan, and direct projects and other activities within
engineering companies. They also sign off on and oversee the development of such
projects.
These specialized managers can be found in offices, construction sites, fields and research
laboratories. They typically work in research industries, or for the government. An
engineering manager directs a team of engineers and checks their work for technical
accuracy. They also communicate daily with other managers.
Engineering managers plan and coordinate budgeting and financial concerns for projects.
They also handle hiring for engineering companies and direct all stages of project
development
Engineering management covers the gap between engineering and business management,
namely the combination of technical and economic decision-making with analytical skills,
optimization capabilities, and technical product development. A Master of Engineering
Management (MEM) is sometimes compared to a Master of Business Administration
(MBA) for professionals seeking a graduate degree as a qualifying credential for a career
in engineering management.
At its fundamental core, the field of engineering management combines technical
engineering expertise, human leadership, specific business management concepts, and
advanced technologies
The engineering management is the management of activities and tasks needed to define
and deliver specific products and the goal is to deliver what the customer wants on-time

directly produce anything

In 1959, Western Michigan University began offering the predecessor to the modern
engineering management bachelor's degree (titled "Industrial Supervision").
In 1977, Western Michigan University started its MS degree in Manufacturing
Administration, later renamed as Engineering Management.
Outside the United States, in Germany the first department concentrating on Engineering
Management was established 1927 at Technical University of Berlin.
In Turkey the Istanbul Technical University has a Management Engineering Department
established in 1982, offering a number of graduate and undergraduate programs in
Management Engineering.

as Warwick Manufacturing Group) established in 1980, which offers a graduate program
in MSc Engineering Business Management.
Michigan Technological University began an Engineering Management program in the
School of Business & Economics in the Fall of 2012.
In Canada, Memorial University of Newfoundland has started a complete master's degree
Program in Engineering Management.

Management (in English).
In Pakistan, University of Engineering and Technology, Taxila, University of Engineering
and Technology, Lahore and National University of Science and Technology (NUST)
offer admission both at Master and Doctorate level in Engineering Management while
Capital University of Science & Technology (CUST), NED University of Engineering &
Technology, Karachi and Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and
Technology have been running a Master of Engineering/MS in Engineering Management
program.
In Italy, the first Engineering Management program was established in 1972 at the
University of Calabria by Beniamino Andreatta.

Project Management
is the process of leading the work of a team to achieve all project goals within the given
constraints. This information is usually described in project documentation, created at the
beginning of the development process. The primary constraints are scope, time, and
budget. The secondary challenge is to optimize the allocation of necessary inputs and
apply them to meet pre-defined objectives.
The objective of project management is to produce a complete project which complies
with the client's objectives. In many cases, the objective of project management is also to
shape or reform the client's brief to feasibly address the client's objectives. Once the
client's objectives are clearly established, they should influence all decisions made by
other people involved in the project – for example, project managers, designers,
contractors, and subcontractors. Ill-defined or too tightly prescribed project management
objectives are detrimental to decision-making

Project Characteristics
It is what distinguishes one project from another. Basically consist of (Size, Number of
features, People, Length of time, location of the parts of the project, color of the team,
critical requirements) in addition are all of these requirements, schedule and cost fixed or
flexible and Is there a critical quality requirement?
