Use of epoxy grout for fixing the glass handrail, into the concrete groove resulted in hardening of
the total unit. This resulted in restraining the glass railing from expanding / contracting due to
temperature change. Since the site was near to the sea shore the wind movement also escalated
the possibility of breakage.
The fixing of the glass into the concrete groove was done with structural silicon and nylon
packing was given intermediate to support and align the glass. The silicon resulted in cushioning
effect of the glass during temperature change and this helped in avoiding breakage further.
This was made a practice during future installations and helped in avoiding further damages due
to stress build up as a result of temperature variation.
