SCENE 1

Narrator: Once upon a time, there was a boy named Juan Tamad. He was very lazy and his
thoughts were filled with ways on how to make his life easier. One day, he saw a bayabas tree
that was filled with bayabas fruits. This bayabas tree was not that high, and in truth, Juan could
easily climb the tree if he wanted to, since he just needed to jump a little to reach the bayabas
fruit. But despite it being easy for him to reach, he chose not to do it because it was a bother to
even stand up.

Juan: Why do I even need to reach the fruit, when I know that it will just fall off the tree later
making it easier for me to grab it?

Narrator: Juan made a plan to go under the bayabas tree and lay beside its trunk so that he would
be near the tree when the fruits fell down the branches.

Juan: I’ll just wait here under the tree so that the bayabas will just fall into my mouth, making it
easier for me since I wouldn’t have a hard time swallowing it.

Narrator: With the plan in mind, Juan stayed under the bayabas tree to wait for the fruit to fall in
his mouth. While waiting Juan fell asleep because he felt comfortable under the shade of the tree
while feeling the cool breeze of the wind. While he was sleeping, Juan felt seeds and juices from
above falling and dripping onto his face. After the disturbance, Juan wakes up to see that a bird
has been happily eating the fruits of the bayabas tree, because of this, Juan decides to just go
home with a hungry stomach because he is too lazy to deal with things.
SCENE 2

Narrator: After what happened to Juan and the bayabas tree, Juan was resting in his home when
his mother Aling Maria Ordered Juan to go to the marketplace.

Aling Maria: Juan!!!

Juan: Yes mother?

Aling Maria: Don’t just rest always and be lazy, go to the market and buy crabs so that we would
have something to eat for our dinner later

Juan: But it’s so hot, I just want to sleep, I don’t want to go outside I’m so tired

Aling Maria: So tired? All you did for the past few days is just sleep, eat, then sleep again? How
can you get tired when you always rest? Don’t complain just go or else you won’t eat dinner for
today!

Juan: Ugh fineeee!

Narrator: Aling Maria gave Juan some cash and told him to go already so that he would not be
late for lunch. After Juan arrived at the Market, he went to one of the stalls and asked the
manager if she was selling crabs specifically fat and meaty crabs. After Juan paid for the crabs
and thanked the Manang, he prepared to go home since it was getting late, but Juan as lazy as he
could be decided to rest under a tree since he was very tired from the trip. But he remembered
that his mother was waiting for him at his house, which is why he came up with a not-so-bright
idea to let the crabs he bought go home first.

Juan: Go ahead without me because I still need to rest. I’ll just show you all where our house is
located and you can just walk on your own from here on out.

Narrator: Juan released the ropes that bind the crabs together, and let them walk on there own.
After that, he rested beside the tree and went to sleep soundly. A couple of hours later, Juan woke
up and stretched his body since it was sore from the hard soil, he was also feeling quite hungry
that’s why he immediately went home expecting a nice meal made by his mother.

Aling Maria: Oh Juan, why did you come home so late that it’s almost dinner time, and where
are the crabs that I ordered you to buy from the market?
Juan: I freed the crabs from their bindings so that they could come home first since I was feeling
tired. Did they successfully come home, Mother? Have you cooked them already?

Narrator: Her Mother was shocked by what Juan said

Aling Maria: WHAT! What do you mean? Why did you set them free??

Juan: Mother, around noon, I told the crabs to come home first so that you could wash and
prepare them, I thought they came home successfully?

Aling Maria: Juan! Are you crazy? How can those crabs come home on their own when they
can’t think by themselves, What do you think we do now? We don’t have something to eat for
dinner. “Sigh,” you and your laziness.
