The Tales of Beedle the Bard

Everyone can recognize Harry Potter. Almost every child on the world knows who Harry
Potter is. We all heard about the young boy with a magical power and the scarf on the head.
The book about a group of young friends was so popular, that J. K. Rowling has written other
six continuing books. And they also have become one of the biggest bestsellers of all time.
After all this success, she has written another book which is not continuation but it is related
to the wizard story. And it is called The Tales of Beedle the Bard.

It is a very small but great book. It narrates about five different stories from the world of
magic. My favourite one that I want to describe you just a little is The Wizard and the
Hopping Pot. It is an instructive fable. A good wizard owned a magic pot and helped the
people in the village with different problems and diseases. He always conjured up some
potion from the pot and healed them. One day he died and left the pot to his son. His son
wasn’t that kind and nice and didn’t want to help anyone. When someone asked for a help, he
refused. But always he refused the pot took the signs of the illness on itself. And also one leg
has grown to it. It was instantly hopping, squealing and wailing. After a long time when the
junior wizard almost lost his reason, he decided to help everyone. He solved all the problems
of the people around and the pot calmed down and fell silent. Since those times he has helped
with everything like his father did.

What I like about this book is that it has a deeper meaning with a purpose of drawing a lesson.
You can read it very quickly, basically in an hour and that’s one more plus I see on this book.
I think every fan of Harry Potter should read The Tales of Beedle the Bard.

Pygmalion - My Fair Lady

The story of this book is about an unruly girl, Lisa Dolittle, who got in the way of a smug
professor of linguistics mister Henry Higgins. He bet with his friend, an old colonel, that he
can transfer the young lady who speaks with accent of lower layers to an elegant lady. Henry
Higgins has been teaching her etiquette for six months. Lisa really learned the language of a
higher society, she grew up and became a real lady. The professor brought her to the
ambassador’s ball where she dazzled the English high society. Although she behaved like a
duchess, Mister Higgins didn’t recognize her effort. Lisa signalled to him her love but didn´t
recalls her feelings. He was constantly selfish and didn’t care about her. But there was also
another man who fell in love with Lisa.
How does the story end? Will Lisa choose her admirer and would like to retaliate with self-
centred professor or will she be living a stereotype life with the fact her love of the life will
never ever love her? If you want to figure out what happened in this thrilling book you just
have to read it!
I recommend this book a lot. The story and the whole plot amazed me. The transformation of
Lisa through the time is magnificent and fascinating. And if you’re not a big fan of books then
go and watch the film form with Audrey Hepburn in the main role. She was one of the most
famous and world-known actress in those times.
The author of this book is George Bernard Shaw, he comes from Ireland. He got the Nobel
Prize for literature and is one of the most well-known British authors. He wrote 60 dramas
and Pygmalion is the most popular one.
