ASSIGNMENT TWO QUESTIONS

1. In your own words, use literature/studies to describe the concept of ‘pedagogical 10

content knowledge (PCK)’. Please incorporate the PCK diagram to provide
more clarity to your description.

2. Explain the basic approach you would use to apply the principles of 10
constructivism in your specialised teaching area.

3. What principles can guide your approach to the integration of technology into 10
instruction?

4. Critically describe your view on this statement: 10

Mobile devices have the potential to support learning.

5. Design a mind map of your educational technology resources that you use when 20
teaching the subject of your specialization.

• Choose and use an online/electronic mind mapping tool of your choice, e.g
MindMup, Mindomo, XMind, Coggle, MindMeister, FreeMind, etc. or any tool
of your choice. You can even use Microsoft Word or PowerPoint.
• Use colours, icons, and images as much as possible. These function as
mental triggers and can help spark new ideas in you, which is important
during brainstorming sessions.

6. Based on what you have learned so far this year, describe your understanding of 4
‘technology integration’?

7. List and describe the roles of teachers. Please consult your study guide and the 24
prescribed book and cite accordingly.

8. Eraut (1998:128) points out that ‘the use of competence is no less diverse than 12
the usage of such terms as knowledge, skills and ability’. Applied competence is
an overarching concept that incorporates three forms of competence. List these
three forms, define each one of them, and in your own words, critically evaluate
why you think each form is important in a teaching profession.
