THEME OF LOVE, HATE, PARENTAL AUTHORITY and

YOUTH IN WILLIAM SHAKESPEAR’S ROMEO AND JULIET

The love contrast arises on the balcony in Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet's
intense love is pitted against the society in which they live, which is rife with hatred.
Juliet informs Romeo on the balcony that if her relatives find him in the orchard, they
would kill him. The drama looks at different types of love, including romantic and
familial love. At their elopement, Romeo and Juliet had discovered love.

Romeo and Juliet rebel against authority, break convention, and reject their familial
roles. Romeo and Juliet's enmity is the most formidable obstacle to their love.
Romeo's passion for Juliet leads to Mercutio's death and Tybalt's murder, illustrating
the core premise of the play: love dragged by hatred cannot stay. The prince is a
symbol of justice and the rule of law. He never influenced by feeling in any event,
when his own brother, Mercutio is executed.

Religious authority is represented by Friar Lawrence. He advises Romeo to be

cautious in his love. Lord Capulet wields social and parental power, though he
enables Paris to influence his judgments. Conflicts between the dispositions of
young individuals and the expectations of older characters drive much of the drama's
intent. At the same masquerade party, Lord Capulet and Tybalt's wrath is
comparable. Juliet's relationship with the other elderly nurses is similar to Romeo's
with the elderly Friar. Julie and the nurse are both ardent and ardent about love, as
they are in nature. They quarrel when she urges Juliet to marry Paris after Romeo is
banished. In nature, the Friar and Romeo are similar in that they are both poetic and
noble.
To sum up, the subject of love and hate is present throughout Romeo and Juliet. The
love between Romeo and Juliet is so powerful that they stand together against the
world. At the same time, their hatred for each other's families and the rejection they
face is so deep that they prefer death to life.
