Absa Bank
They offer integrated banking services (a Business
Bank account) with various value-added services for
customers who bank with them.
They come across as a very affordable choice for merchants who bank with
them due to the low debit card rates but often hybrid cards (cheque account
cards) are billed according to credit card rates (3.25%) which is very high
compared to most other service providers. They also charge R250 penalty fee
if a minimum turnover of R15000 is not reached.
They also offer MasterPass but only to cardholders, not merchants.
08
FNB Bank
With value offerings and price reductions, it should be relatively easy to make them switch, however, they tie everything to Ebucks. For smaller merchants the speed point
becomes very expensive due to minimum turnover requirements and penalties charged (+-R250-R400pm) and we have heard that their sales model is to sign merchants
up on the lowest rates (based on expected turnovers) and then increase these after 3 months if merchants have not achieved this (actual turnovers). 04
They don't offer outright purchase options and monthly fees are expensive so we could switch merchants by offering better service, cheaper rates, free backups and
outright purchase deals.

HOW TO BEAT THEIR
OFFER:
Both of these are great offers
and hard to beat but on both
options, you have to purchase
a new device each time the
hardware breaks so this can
become expensive in the long
run. (On average a card
machine in a busy retail store
will break every 12-24 months
no matter how well it is looked
after). As far as we know the
transaction rates are also
fixed to staying the same on
debit and credit so this can be
costly to larger merchants
who may benefit more from a
SHAKER SOLO MOVER PRO separate debit and credit card
rate. Lastly, their daily rate of
R2.5 adds to a monthly
amount of R75 if merchants

they don't offer free backup or

NedBank
We have a strong relationship with Nedbank because we resell their products so we try our best not to approach their clients but if a client is unhappy with their service or
they cannot obtain everything they need with Nedbank, then we can persuade them to switch based on the value added services we offer. Reasons to switch: Outright
purchase on speedpoints, dedicated account managers, reporting, free back up solutions etc. 04

LOYALTY / GIFT
They focus mainly on the Retail space & offer their merchants a
loyalty platform (something similar to a Clicks card) which means the
merchants who use that service for their customers could not easily
move their card machine away from Sureswipe as their customers
would lose their points gained.
WHY MERCHANTS WOULD SWITCH TO WAPPOINT
If merchants are not using loyalty:
- Beat their rates (they are more expensive than most)

HOW TO BEAT THEIR OFFER:
Yoco
These are great offers and hard to
beat but on all options you have to
purchase a new device each time
the hardware breaks so this can
become expensive in the long run.
As far as we know the transaction
rates are also fixed to staying the
same on debit and credit so this can
be costly to larger merchants who
may benefit more from a separate
debit and credit card rate.
They also don't offer 24/7 support
(only till 8pm) and don't offer free
backups or expo services. None of
their devices print either and many
people complain about the
unreliability of their devices in terms
of Bluetooth connectivity and
cellular data connectivity.
We can also offer rental choices
since they only do outright purchase
and we can offer VIP service.
