Dear OEM:

Enclosed is the CD for the USB Supplement for the Microsoft Windows 95 OEM Preinstallation
Kit (OPK). This supplement adds USB (Universal Serial Bus) support to the OEM Windows 95
Service Release 2 (OSR2). This CD contains:

· USB Supplement for PreInstallations

· Installation Instructions (Appendix G - For the OEM OPK Service Release 2 User’s Guide)
· USB Supplement for the End User Upgrade (OSR2 Computers Only)
· Readme.txt for the End User Upgrade (OSR2 Computers Only)
· INF files for new Infrared plug and play devices. Specifically for PnP0511.
· Service.txt replacement for Online Service Providers readme.txt in OSR2 OPK.
· MS-IME97 - Input Method Editor (Japanese version OPK only)

Support for the OPK following the product’s release is handled through Microsoft AnswerPoint. For
information about Microsoft’s support offerings, call 800-936-3500.

The USB Supplement is not a new release of the OEM preinstallation Kit (OPK). It is an upgrade of
OSR2 components to support USB devices. The installation instructions (in Appendix G) explain the
procedures to change the OSR2 Preinstall scheme to add the USB Supplement.

The OEM’s that already shipped USB enabled machines with OSR2 can upgrade those machines by
sending the USB supplement (usbsupp.exe and readme.txt) to their customers with a floppy disk or over
the Internet. The USB Supplement works only on OSR2 machines. This CD contains a utility that will
make an End User floppy disk that can be duplicated for shipment.
