sublato fundamento cadit opus: if foundation falls, all subsequent actions fall
Ex injuria jus non oritur or ex turpi causa non oritur actio : no relief for illegal action / no action
from illegal acts
⮚ Found judgment wherein these maxims are applied in contract cases (rights in personam),
especially regarding the validity of default notice.
