creative writers. Their stern attitude against self-promotion except for on selected days and
uncompromised monitoring of posts and comments ensures that you are joining an affable

write. They understand what it takes to wrestle with sentences and paragraphs until every word feels
right. They experience the same frustrations that come with building an audience or pitching their
work to publications. They know because they’re trying to do it too. A writing community offers
support and encouragement from people who understand your experience firsthand and want to help
you thrive. Here are the top writing community websites as identified in the 22nd Annual 101 Best

one. Authorship is different: it is a fellowship and a community.” James McConnachie If you do not
face any of the above-mentioned struggles then congratulations, you have cracked it! However, if
you do relate to the above-mentioned problems and feel alone in your struggle, then keep reading
because you are definitely not alone in this. God bless the Internet! In the current era, even without

Network is another writing community that you should definitely consider exploring if you are
looking to connect with other writers and share your content. Whatever you write, there’s a
community to help you. It might feel awkward at first, but I’ve found that most people are friendly
and enjoy talking about writing and meeting new people. You just have to be brave and take that
leap to put yourself out there, which I know can be so hard for us introverts. But I promise you, the
friendships you will gain are so worth stepping outside of your comfort zone! August 2007 (3) As a
member of Scribophile, you will be able to submit content in multiple forms. The site is particularly
great for any novels that you have in mind. You can share your works of this nature for a chance to

them fulfill a particular need. As a writer, you need to know what is lacking in your writing before
you chose a community. Look for online writing communities that are curated to your needs as a
writer. It is advisable to read through the “about” section of each website before you sign up or buy

solitary task, and we writers tend to be introverted creatures who enjoy the seclusion and silence of
our favorite activity. But sometimes, even introverts get lonely. It’s part of human nature; it’s our
instinct to seek out the company of other human beings. It’s not good for us to be alone. Not only
can an online writing community help your career, it can also help you as a writer in general. When I
was writing my first novel, These Are the Moments, I decided that I needed to find a writing
community. It was important for me to make friends that understood the ups and downs of the
writing process, and to meet people in all stages of this adventure. No matter where you are in your

makes blogging so much more fun when I receive feedback or stories from y’all. Keep up the good
work! But in retrospect, I realize that there’s a bit of magic in growing something from a seed and
tending it in public. I witnessed how this act of sharing creates authentic community spirit. I
wouldn’t be surprised if some day I started my own form of quirky pumpkin growing and reap the
benefit of true community.
June 2019 (29) That’s where writer communities come in handy. You do not even have to leave the
comfort of your home. Thanks to the internet, you can now benefit from the sense of community that
comes with sharing ideas with other writers. All you have to do is find online writing community
sites, become a member, and get started. Just like any other community, you need to get just as
involved as everyone else in order to get something out of it. If you’re a little shy about chatting up
random writers on Twitter, you could try participating in writing-related Twitter chats. That way, you
can “meet” writers during the chat and then connect with them afterward if you like. A couple of
chats I recommended (which are hosted by some of my own friends) are #StorySocial and
#StoryCrafter, though there are many others out there! (Source: Publishaprofitablebook.com) All the

However, even the most solitary of writers can benefit from having a community and that was the
case for Dickinson. Her letters reveal deep connections – not just to friends and family but to other
writers who she relied upon for feedback and support, such as her “literary counselor and confidant”
Thomas Wentworth Higginson. A writing community is one of the best places to explore new
genres, characters, plots, styles, tones, perspectives, processes and techniques. You’ll have
brainstorms, workshops, reviewing sessions and lots of discussion. In fact, communities like online
forums are pretty much centred on discussion; they have active boards that focus on specific topics
like niches, techniques, styles and publishing. You can get – and learn to give – some great writing
advice. As part of an audience, you can develop the mind of a critic. And every once in a while,
you’ll read things that inspire you to write some of your best pieces. While it's nice to have a
community, you don't want anything to take more time than doing your craft. A few years back, I
would have replied: “Neither.” The frustrating moments of miscommunication, the stifling
homesickness, and the impossible dilemma of deciding between the Korean or American table in the
dining hall, all fueled my identity crisis. I finally have people I can nerd out with over how to
construct perfect plots and characters and share my passion for story. It’s so nice to talk to people I
have things in common with, and who can laugh at writing jokes and understand writer pet peeves
(Such as being asked “What are you going to do with that Creative Writing degree?” Or “What’s
your story about?” Or my person favorite, “How long is your story?”). ISBN: 9781441111944 Other

Encouragement to keep writing is wonderful and necessary, but many writers also need an
experienced set of eyes on their work. With a writing community, you have the opportunity to
engage with others who may be willing to offer feedback on your work. It’s often difficult to see
where we need to bring clarity, make cuts, or change up the pacing in our own writing. Ask another
writer to offer constructive criticism on your work in progress, and your writing will inevitably grow
stronger. You will be able to meet other people who take their writing just as seriously, but also get
the help and support you need to get your book published. I was eighteen or nineteen when I first
