Why Iglesia ni Cristo a Cult?

By: Mattheo Rafael Adao

Information will be explained and Debunk

1. They believe they are the only ones who will be saved on judgment
day if they remain in their church.
2. Felix y Manalo is the last Prophet of the INC.
3. Anger and destruction of other religions
4. Many INC prayed to Manalo like a god, which is idolism.
5. There are many poor people in INC, but they only help a little and
still say donating is necessary. What about the poor?
6. Made up Holy Songs?
7. Wrong beliefs about Christian doctrine
8. Non-trinitarian beliefs
Debunk:
1. First Debunk
Believing in Grace:
a. Ephesians 2:8-9 (NIV): "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—
and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one
can boast."
b. Romans 3:23-24 (NIV): "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by
Christ Jesus."
Believing in the Holy Trinity:
c. Matthew 28:19 (NIV): "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing
them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit."
d. 2 Corinthians 13:14 (NIV): "May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love
of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all."
Repenting of Sin:
e. Acts 3:19 (NIV): "Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped
out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord."
f. 1 John 1:9 (NIV): "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us
our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."
Worshipping God:
g. John 4:23-24 (NIV): "Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true
worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and truth, for they are the kind of
worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in
the Spirit and truth.

Explanation: The belief that grace, the Holy Trinity, repentance of sin, and worship of God lead
to paradise is based on Christian theology's essential principles. It expresses an awareness of
God's unconditional love, His redeeming work through Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit's
transformative influence in the lives of Christians. By accepting these beliefs and practices,
Christians declare their confidence in God's saving grace and commit to a life of discipleship,
ultimately desiring to live in the everlasting joy of God's kingdom.

Conclusion: INC's beliefs that they will be saved if they stay in their church are usually incorrect.
I just discussed God the Father's and the Lord Jesus Christ's instructions on how to enter
paradise or even be saved on judgment day.
2. Second Debunk
● He has made several prophecies in his lifetime that have not come true.
● His teachings are not found in the bible.
● He teaches works-based salvation, not salvation by grace alone.
● He claims to be the final prophet, yet there is no biblical evidence to support this claim.
● He has created a new religion, not restored the original one.
● He teaches that he is the "Sugo", which is a title that is not found in the bible.
● He teaches that Christians need to earn their salvation through good works and obedience to his
teachings.
● He teaches that Jesus is not divine, but merely a man.
● He teaches that only those who joined the Church of Christ in these last days are truly saved.

Felix Manalo is a false prophet because he claims that he is the seal of the prophets, the fulfillment of
prophecy, and the one that will restore true Christianity. He has also claimed to have restored the original
name and doctrine of the church. None of his claims are found in the bible.

Why the Lord Jesus Christ is the Last Prophet?

1. Divine Sonship:
● John 1:1, 14 (NIV): "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the
Word was God... The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have
seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace
and truth."
● Matthew 16:16 (NIV): "Simon Peter answered, 'You are the Messiah, the Son of the living
God.'"
2. Messiah and Savior:
● Luke 2:11 (NIV): "Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the
Messiah, the Lord."
● Acts 4:12 (NIV): "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under
heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved."
3. Unique Authority and Teachings:
● Matthew 7:28-29 (NIV): "When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were
amazed at his teaching, because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their
teachers of the law."
● Mark 1:22 (NIV): "The people were amazed at his teaching, because he taught them as
one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law."
4. Role in Salvation History:
● Hebrews 1:1-2 (NIV): "In the past, God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at
many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son,
whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe."
● Acts 13:23 (NIV): "From this man’s descendants God has brought to Israel the Savior
Jesus, as he promised."
3. Thirth Debunk
Inc. hates other religions because it believes that it is the only true church. The
teachings of Inc are very different from those of other religions, and the members of Inc
are taught to reject all other religions as false. Inc members are taught to hate other
religions because they believe that only Inc has the true way to salvation.

4. Fourth Debunk
INC members pray to Manalo because they believe that he is the only one who can
connect them to God. They believe that Manalo is their messenger, their savior, and the
one who can receive their prayers.

Idolism is the worship of something or someone other than God. In INC's case, idealism
occurs in praying to Manalo as if he were God. Idolism occurs because the worship is
directed towards Manalo and not God.

Exodus 20:3-5a (NIV):

1. "You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an
image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the
waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them..."
Deuteronomy 5:7-9 (NIV):
2. "You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an idol
in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters
below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them..."
1 Corinthians 10:14 (NIV):
3. "Therefore, my dear friends, flee from idolatry."
1 John 5:21 (NIV):
4. "Dear children, keep yourselves from idols."

5. Fifth Debunk
Poor people are not considered as important as other members. The INC gives a limited
amount of help and assistance to poor members but still expects them to give offerings
and fulfill their duties as members. The INC does not prioritize the well-being of poor
members but rather prioritizes the financial well-being of its organization. This is why the
INC continues to ask for donations and offerings even when many of its members
struggle financially.
6. Sixth Debunk
INC has created its holy songs because it wants to distinguish itself from other religions.
They want to create an identity and culture that is unique and separate from other
religions, including Orthodox and Catholicism. The INC holy songs are meant to be
used only by the INC members, and the lyrics are meant to convey the INC teachings
and beliefs. The INC does not want to use songs from other religions, including biblical
verses, because they believe that their lyrics convey their teachings better.

7. Seventh Debunk
The INC has many wrong doctrines that are not found in the bible such as salvation
through works instead of grace, rejecting the trinity, believing that Manalo is the final
messenger, and praying to Manalo. These wrong doctrines are all sins mentioned in the
bible such as:

Works-based salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9)

Rejecting the trinity (1st Corinthians 12 6-13)
Believing a false prophet as the final messenger (Deuteronomy 18 15)
Praying to someone other than God (1st Timothy 2:5)

8. Eighth Debunk
The Trinity is real and true in the bible because the bible says:
God is one in three persons, and three in one God" (1st John 5:7).
There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1st
Timothy 2:5).
The Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit are one" (John 10:30).
But a Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you
all things" (John 14:26).
Non-trinitarianism is a deviation from the Christian faith and is considered a heresy by
mainstream Christians. This is because it rejects the concept of the Trinity, which is one
of the most fundamental beliefs of Christianity. Non-trinitarianism denies the Divinity of
Jesus Christ and the presence of the Holy Spirit, which goes against the teachings of
the bible.
