TASK 1
Match up the different techniques with their correct description these are
all techniques that we have used and discussed since September.

Skill Description
Projection An easily recognisable but very basic character. It
usually includes exaggerated traits.

Volume How close or far away characters stand to each other.

Pace (vocal) This describes how high or low your voice is and can
help demonstrate emotion, someone who is angry
might speak lower, or it could demonstrate what a
person is doing, when we ask a question we
sometimes go higher.

Pitch How high or low actors position themselves physically.

Being higher could show a character overpowering
another.

Pause These convey emotions or reactions using eyes, ears,

nose mouth, jaw etc.

Facial Expressions The way a character will walk or move while on stage.

Body Language Making sure that your voice carries to the audience.

Posture Actions which are mostly created using our hands and
communicate something non-verbally such as a wave
communicating “hello”.

Gesture These can sometimes be added to your speech to

create a moment of tension.
Gait The position of a person's body when standing or
sitting, for example a soldier would stand upright but a
drunk person would slump.

Levels The speed with which you speak.

Proxemics How loudly or quietly you use your voice.

Character This refers to the combination of posture, gait,

positioning and gestures which communicate non-
verbally how a character feels.

Stereotype When you change aspects of yourself to make a

fictional person which you can perform.

TASK 2
Using at least 3 different physical and vocal techniques describe how
you would show a character that is:

Angry
Hands crossed, eyebrows down and shouting at them

Upset
Crying looking down and tears in your eyes

Excited
Big smile hands up and make it look like you cant wait
