1. Introduction
This work instructions provides a step by step guide for users who will connect to the DBCT
P/L Remote Desktop Server (RDS) if authorised to conduct work remotely.
Please note, if you intend to remote connect directly to your work PC/laptop that is still on-
site, this is the wrong work instruction, you need to use the Remote Desktop – Direct work
instruction, which will connect you directly to your workstation.
2. Prep task
1. DUO Mobile must be installed and activated. Please refer to the documentation:
How to install and activate Duo via Email Enrollment
3. Main task
1. If you are using a DBCT-issued laptop, please follow steps 2-8 below. If you are
using your own laptop/desktop computer, please follow steps 9-13 below
2. If you are using a DBCT-issued laptop, login with the laptophome credentials
3. Once logged in, connect to the Internet. See Appendix A for instructions
5. If there is a pop-up stating The publisher of this remote connection cant be identified,
select the tick box Don’t ask me again for connections to this computer and click the
Connect button.
6. When you see the Windows Security – Enter Your Credentials pop-up, enter your
DBCT username and password
7. If you see a second Windows Security – Enter Your Credentials pop-up, enter your
DBCT username and password again
8. After successfully entering your credentials, you will be presented with a Duo
Security prompt, that is configured to send you a Push Notification to your registered
Duo mobile phone. Once you have approved the notification from Duo, your remote
session will begin.
Note: If you do not receive the Duo notification on your phone, open the Duo app to
approve your connection.
9. If you are using your own laptop/desktop, you will need to launch and manually
configure the Remote Desktop Connection settings.
• For Windows 10 users, click the Start button and type remote. When you see the
Remote Desktop Connection icon, select it to launch
• For Windows 7 users, click the Start button > All Programs > Accessories >
Remote Desktop Connection
10. Click the Show Options arrow at the bottom left. Ensure Computer is set to
RDSFarm.dbct.com.au. For the User name, input DBCT\xxxx where xxxx is your
DBCT username.
11. If you are using multiple monitors click on the Display Tab and select check box Use
all my monitors for the remote session
12. Click on the Advanced Tab, then select Settings. Select Use these RD Gateway
server settings and enter server name as:
remote.dbct.com.au
Select check box for Bypass RD Gateway server for local addresses
For Logon settings, select check box for Use my RD Gateway credentials for the
remote computer
13. Click Ok to save the RD Gateway Server Settings. Click on the General Tab and
select Save As. Choose an easy to find location (ie. Desktop) and save the RDP file
as DBCTRemote. You should just need to double-click the saved RDP file to
connect. Follow steps 4-8 above to connect to the Remote Desktop session.
