Fifty Shades of Grey, the highly anticipated movie adaptation of the bestselling novel by E L James,

has finally hit the big screens. The film, directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, has been the talk of the
town since its release, with fans eagerly waiting to see how the steamy romance between Christian
Grey and Anastasia Steele would be portrayed on screen.

The movie has received mixed reviews, with some praising it for its steamy scenes and chemistry
between the lead actors, while others criticizing it for its lack of depth and deviation from the book.
However, one thing is for sure, Fifty Shades of Grey has captured the attention of audiences around
the world.

Many have praised the performances of Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, who play Christian and
Ana respectively, for their portrayal of the complex and intense relationship between the two
characters. The chemistry between the two actors is undeniable, and they have managed to bring the
characters to life in a way that has satisfied many fans of the book.

The film has also been praised for its stunning visuals and soundtrack, which adds to the overall
sensuality and intensity of the story. The use of beautiful locations and well-chosen music creates a
captivating atmosphere that draws the audience in and keeps them engaged throughout the film.

However, there have been some criticisms of the movie, particularly in regards to its deviation from
the book. Some fans of the novel have expressed disappointment in the changes made to the story
and the omission of certain key scenes. Others have criticized the film for its lack of character
development and depth, which may have been sacrificed for the sake of fitting the story into a two-
hour movie.

Despite the mixed reviews, one thing is certain – Fifty Shades of Grey has sparked a global
phenomenon and has become a cultural phenomenon. The movie has broken box office records and
has been a hot topic of discussion among fans and critics alike.

As I said above, a 19 hour book condensed into under two is not an easy task. Of course important
scenes and details will be left out! (I’m not sure I’d want to see the tampon scene anyway). I think
that did an excellent job of choosing what goes in, and keeping those scenes very true to the book. I
still wish it were a bit longer and included more, but #2 & #3 will be coming eventually! TV One

missing link surfaces when Grey, after wooing Ana with his care and concern in almost paternalistic
fashion (including taking care of her after she gets drunk at a club), shows his new muse his
“playroom.” The room is filled with Sadomasochism “toys” including ropes, handcuffs and
expensive looking whips. Even perhaps quirkier or creepier is that Grey is seeking a “girlfriend” who
would agree to S&M under specific conditions. In exchange for sexual favors and a signed contract
Ana would be Grey’s “girlfriend,” and also have her own room in his penthouse. Nonetheless, there
are strict rules in this arrangement. Grey’s sexual preferences include not sleeping in the same bed,
and “I don’t do the girlfriend thing,” he says candidly. Nonetheless, “if you agree to be my
submissive I will be devoted to you,” Grey proposes. New and upcoming releases In LIGHTS

From a guy’s perspective, this is all bull shit. If Christian wants a sub to torture and tease, all he has
to do is pay for one. With his money and the ever availability of women willing to sell themselves,
he would have no problem finding one, or a thousand, to let him do whatever he wants to them for a
price. The fact that he so pursues Anastasia contradicts everything he claims to not be. Carly

whole, Fifty Shades is a lot tamer than it could have been. Which is good in some ways, as it allows
for the movie to be as playful as it is. Ana and Christian’s sexual exchange genuinely feels like a
game, one they are playing equitably, both turned on and eager to see what happens next. Ana is
cautious about Christian’s proposal, that she sign a contract and officially become his submissive for
an undisclosed period of time, but she’s not outright frightened, she’s not trapped or railroaded.
Because this is pretty light bondage we’re ultimately talking about here, the game is airy and low-
stakes, a post-graduate period of sexual exploration that seems healthy and safe. R.K. Lilley

Erin Mallon If you understand it well enough it have electrifying charisma and flow of emotions.
There are places where you can actually feel the connections. During the adaptation they have
discarded some really good scenes which have costed them to change the plot which really just adds
to the destruction. Some scenes such as flashbacks from Christian’s past life are the lifeline of the
movie. The movie is food for your guilty pleasures and escape from reality. There is a really good
play of lights in the movie. Also the songs in the movie are something you cannot miss. They have
manage to carry the passion and intensity throughout the movie. Lauren Blakely Grammy-winning
artist Muni Long brought everyone to their feet closing the show with her hit song “Made for Me.”
So little of the “sexual violence” that these two engage in is actual violence. It’s more about the
illusion of violence as the players fulfill their roles as dominant and submissive. Christian actually
uses a feather on Anastasia at one point. I don’t mean poking her with the quill, I mean “dominating”
her with one of the softest things on earth (and one of the prettiest – it’s a peacock feather).

down and get serious toward the end, the romantic push and pull gets repetitive, and the literary
limits of the source material begin to poke through. (The film’s title is sort of explained in one
unbelievably bad line.) Dornan, a god on Earth with a wobbly American accent, is forced to play the
same notes over and over again. Which I don’t mind watching him do, but he begins to seem bored.
The film’s plotlessness becomes a burden in the last 20 or so minutes, when something like a climax
is needed but all the film can muster is yet another argument. And then there’s that ending—a wicked
little fake-out cliffhanger that many audiences are going to hate, but, man, you have to at least
respect the studio’s moxie. It's outright demanding that you go see the sequel, and you know what? I
will. The “mommy porn”-based movie will be directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson with a script written
by Kelly Marcel. The film will be produced by Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti. So far, no one

rumors). The views expressed in this post are the author's own. Want to post on Patch? Register for a
