Vincent Willem Van Gogh was born in Zundert, Netherlads, in 1853.
He had 2 brothers and
three sisters. He received education at a private boarding school. At the age of 16 he entered "The Hague" as an apprentice. In 1876 he returned to Holland. He had several jobs, but in none of them he was successful, because of this his brother Theo motivated him to be a painter in 1880 and he went to Brussels. After a failed romance with his cousin, he met a prostitute named Sien and her children, with whom he lived until Theo, his brother, discovered them. He moved to Nuenen and feverishly painted his first major paintings such as "The Potato Eaters." In 1886 he met his brother in Paris where he reoriented his style by coming into contact with Impressionism. He was so impressed by color and nature that in 1888 he moved to Provence, there he rented a house where he settled and invited artists related to his style. Paul Gauguin was the one who accepted it. Van Gogh attacked him and after he repented, he cut off his ear. Theo had him admitted to the hospital in Arles and a year later he was admitted to Saint Reim. The loss of contact with the world led him to paint in dynamic ways and relying on the correct use of line. In 1890 he moved to Paris with his brother in search of improvement, he made several trips and treatments, his style was more expressive at this time. He was discharged by his doctor, however his sadness consumed him and that same year he ended his life with a gunshot to the chest.
